Nicole Vaidisova, is she another Sharapova?

Just curious. She is only 15, 6 feet tall, from Europe. But already doing quite well. Does she have a real talent/future? What do you think?

I saw her play an exhibition doubles match in Hong Kong, and she didn't quite seem to know what to do as the net player. Also a Tennis magazine article about her (July 2004) says her father and Nick Bollettieri want her to become a serve-and-volley player. (Bollettieri of all people?!?) Hopefully she'll continue to develop this.

Until she wins a grandslam or obtains a top 3 ranking, it would be hard for me to even consider that she plays better than Sharipova. There are many pros with nice looking games and strokes, but never reach top 10.

Well after seeing pictures of her match with Meghann Shaughnessy I can say that Vaidisova's first accomplishment is to show us that a skirt can only get so short before it turns into a belt. Quite an achievement to see it cover more above the waist than below it LOL.

I saw her

in the semi-finals against Meghan. even though she lost she is the real deal. hits a very flat deep ball which makes her error rate a little high as she was having an off day. Very good serve and motion. she has two weaknesses. she is young and therefore a little dumb in that she doesn't know what "work the point" means. she just hits out. also, she appears to me to be slightly "foot slow". she's a big girl whereas Sharapova is much more of a gazelle. hope that i'm not making that much of that i just think Sharapova is a very good athlete and this girl doesn't quite appear to have that type athletism that may harm her later. a little like Davenport. she will clearly be top 10 in two years in my opinion. I LOVED the ball she hit. scary! Like Monica Seles.
