^ I agree, and at Rome Nadal only got 43% of 1st Serves in, and Diego still needed a 7-5 2nd Set, whereas now Nadal is serving superbly so it will be harder for Diego to control the rallies.
Hope for Nadal to shut Diego's mouth, but actually the more Diego loses the more he talks.
So its going to be difficult to watch because of Diego's constant chatter, plus his bizarre grunt which happens while his opponent is hitting the ball....
a Nadal whinning about grunting?
Lol, and what about the time wasting?

Nadal rarely goes beyond the shot-clock.
I don't like Diego's grunt because it happens after he hits the ball, so its unfair for the opponent.

I don't like Schwartzman grunts but you are overrating,I saw his matches in Roland Garros.
Nadal does the same. And yes, it goes beyond the clock many times. In fact, the clock has been set due to Rafa's time loss.

Diego grunts after he's hit the ball, and there is quite a gap.
Guess who won the first ever ATP Masters event with a shot clock? Nadal at Canada.
The shot clock suits him perfectly, and he very rarely goes beyond it.

Nadal Grunting is annoying, and I have heard grunting after hitting the ball a lot of times.
And he won montreal and so what?
Watch the usopen against.Medvedev,
He went beyond the shot clock a lot of times.
And pulled some dirty tricks when the russian was serving in the fifth set.

Rublev beat Tsisipas pre-major, and lost to him in major.

Diego beat Nadal pre-major. I'll be rooting for Diego, but am afraid it's close to impossible for him to beat Nadal twice in a row.

During the match against Thiem, he checked almost all the marks, it was a little annoying... for his defense there was a big mistake from the umpire at 4-2 in the first set.

This Eyeballing system is so unfair to both umpires and players. They have to keep one eyeball on the actual ball, and the other eyeball on the ballmark on the clay.

Some crazy Schwartzman stats:

  • RiP% – Return in play percentage. The percent of return points in which this player got the serve back in play.
  • RiP W% – Return in play winning percentage. Of points in which the returner got the serve back in play, the percentage that the returner won.
  • Returns W% - RiP x RiP W or simple the points won per serving game
Diego has a fairly large number and it is interesting to compare to the big three. Of course surface played makes a considerable difference, clay focused players are pushed upwards. I don't know how robust the stat is but it is noteworthy that Nadal and Djokovic are very highly ranked as returners just like Chang and Schwartzman. Goffin does surprise me a bit while the relative placement of Federer doesn't.

Borg, Sinner and Rios have too little matches for my liking. I might add that I sorted players first by RiP W% and then used my metric to max-min them...

And here the entirely unsurprising reason why his fantastic defensive stats have not giving him more success. Fognini is also among those guys while i'm surprised by the RiP W% of Muster which was able to grind points despite having a weak service even for clay...

Sorted by <=3 W% or how many points were won with Serv+1 at the latest. Huge impact of the relative amount of clay played!
