Pain under bicep. risk?

Hi

Ive been playing all summer 6-7 days for 2-4 hours a day and I had no pain whatsoever. Recently, however, I took a 3 day break from playing tennis, and I spent these days doing pushups, pullups, and running on my elliptical. Im not sore now, but when I swing my racquet, I feel a slight pain in the tendon area right between my bicep and elbow. It doesn't bother me doing anything else, and it hurts even when i dont hit a ball. the pain is not severe though, but I was wondering if its anything serious.

no I dont think its tennis elbow. but yes, I probably had bad form the first hit and i overswung, pulling something a little. The pain is not centralized around the elbow area, but below my bicep area. I feel it now when I do a bicep curl during the first half of the motion.

Thank you, that makes sense. Tennis elbow is more in the elbow forearm area, to my knowledge so I ruled that out. And I was pretty sure i got this pain when I took to hard and fast a swing with horrible technique before warming up. It doesn't really affect me that much, but it bothers me. If it weren't for this forum, I would have just shrugged it off as some minor injury and I would have played on. Its amazing how dynamic the human body is.

You can develop that condition just from doing pushups, pullups or lifting weights. It can happen (1) when you first start the training, since your muscles are not used to this new activity, (2) when you overuse the muscles and tendons (too many reps are especially tough on the tendons), (3) when you increase the load and your muscles and tendons need to be accustomed to the new load, etc.

The fact that you play every single day suggests to me that you are a very young player. But it is always recommended that you take rest to give your body time to recover. For example, your current elbow condition might just go away if you are young enough and your arms can get used to the new stress level. On the other hand, it can get worse and even affect your tennis, giving you a tennis/golfer's elbow.

My recommendation is that you give yourself a day of rest between workouts, and even for tennis, I recommend that you cut it down to 4-5 days a week.
