Peak Nishikori would have beaten Djokovic

Give Djokovic Carlos's draw and he will have a hard time winning this USO and you think he would have won in a field that was stacked with players like Nadal, Fed, Tsonga, Murray etc when he would have to play them back to back?
More nonsense. Which field was ever STACKED with players like Nadal and Federer? Or Murray and Tsonga for that matter...

And while we're at giving draws, let's retroactively give Nadal few Federer matces at USO instead of playing guys like Youzhny and Gasquet. See how that goes for him (in his prime, not at 36).

This is so disingenuous that I don’t really know how to respond.
Wait so age isn’t the key variable in his level? What is then?
2010 Djokovic was in the flower of youth. Anyone who managed to beat him must have been much stronger than anyone that loses to current version, no?

Ok but the argument is consistently that his AGE is the key variable. We can't keep moving goalposts around. He was younger in 2009 than in 2011 and much younger in 2014 than now. Yet we hear over and over that the current Djokovic is only a shadow of his younger self.
If that's true, the only logical conclusion is that guys like Maelzer, Kohlschreiber, and Nishikori would be winning all the slams in this generation.
Not sure if you're stupid or just dishonest...

We keep forgetting one thing. Djokovic is winning grand slams. But he is playing a highly reduced schedule. He is concentrating solely on grand slams , and it is helping him keep his physical /mental/ emotional energy reserves for these tournaments.

He is still a good player to reach semi finals easily. After that its 2 matches per tournament where he bring his complete focus/preparation/analysis and dedication. This has helped him win grand slams tremendously . Someone like Carlos and other players play the full schedule so they are bound to be burned out/ less focussed causing up and down days.

There is no way Djokovic can okay full schedule and still win 3 grand slams. He doesn't have that much energy. He is completely focussed now on grand slams to the point even a loss in other tournaments doesn't bother him at all.

Seeing his reaction after loosing Wimbledon , it seemed he accepted the loss very well, no emotional frustration creeped in . Just a bad day at office. And then planned and prepared and motivated himself more for Cincinnati/us open

Forget about winnings ,other players burn so much energy just reaching the finals. For all the success Alcaraz had, he reached only one final this year!!
