Penn ATP Extra Duty Tennis Balls

I'm looking for a ball that has longivity and well... just plays like a regular ball is supposed to. I'm looking at the Penn ATP Extra Duty Tennis Balls, and I only see a $4 difference between these and the Penn Championship balls in the 24-can packages. Would the Penn ATP Extra Duty balls play exactly like the Penn Championship balls, except last longer? Or do they die a lot faster??? I need answers here...

The Penn ATP balls perform better in nearly every category in my opinion. The ATPs are a top tier ball whereas the Championship is not. The ATPs might not last as long but I haven't used them in a while.

I use the regular ATP ball to play on clay and they hold up well. If the regular duty is any indication, the heavy duty should hold up as well for hard courts.

A buddy of mine bought a couple cases of these, and when we play with them, we both can hardly stand it. They don't bounce like the "cheaper" Penns and Wilsons. The bounce isn't as high, they feel heavy and sort of flat right out of the cans.

Seems like I'm the only one who has had this experience with these balls, though.

I'm not sure if they are the extra duty or regular duty, though.

I recently went through a bunch of ATP XD balls and now have a bunch of US Open balls. At first the ATP do not seem to bounce well. After a couple of hits it's like they breathe and open up. They play much better. The ATP is much better than the Championship version overall though. Not at first, when the Championship balls come straight from the can, but when the Championship balls begin to lose their characteristics the ATP balls are still going strong. I can usually get two good days (3 to 4 hours per day) of hard hitting out of the ATP balls as opposed to the Championship balls which are really struggling after three hours.

dunlop grand prix

have you tried the dunlop grand prix balls?..... have used them for the last year for my classes they last and hold their bounce. use them 3x a week 5 hours. I replace them every 3 months, mainly because they are just old and dirty but they still bounce.

 Wow. Do you like them for match play? I might have to try these out.

The Penn ATP balls play much better than the championship balls. They're also softer and play better than Wilson US Open balls... In my opinion :)

I just played a can of these today and they're my new favorites, displacing the slightly more expensive Penn Marathon Extra Duty balls. The Marathons are truly worth the money. They are easily 4 or 5 times better than regular Penn or Wilson balls, even the extra duty regular balls. Both the ATP and Marathon also have a brighter yellow color which is very noticeable. Also both feature a distinct number color on the balls- Red for the ATP and Blue for the Marathon. It's virtually impossible to lose them or have them "disappear" on another court. So far the ATP play as well as the Marathon but I'll reserve final judgement for a few days to see if they have similar longevity. Both are much better than the wildly overpriced Wilson US Open ball.

Are Penn ATP balls the same as Head ATP balls? I ask this because Head also have a Championship ball. Don"t Head own Penn?
Anyway if so the ATP's are far superior to the Championship.

i played with both marathon and atp
marathon is a slightly harder ball, provably why the durability is alittle better than atp (thicker rubber than atp),
i personally like the ATP ball best..
