I'm converting from 65-70 lbs kevlar mains. I'm looking for a poly that I can string at a high tension. I like to serve and volley so one with some feel would be good.

Contact Shroud about polys which can be strung at high tensions. I would say any poly of 15L or 15 Ga diameter could be strung at 65# without problems. Many 16 Ga polys could be strung <= 60# without problems. My question, though, is what gauge of kevlar did you string at 65-70#? If you say 17 Ga or 18 Ga, you will almost never get the same 'feel' unless you are extremely lucky with tension or use a hybrid. If Shroud chimes in, he'll probably mention that kevlar should be pre-stretched, otw you do not get the 65-70# you think you are getting.

I used to string ALU at 65.

Dropped it to 60 after a while.

Then to 55.

Now playing at 44 (crosses, on a Pro Staff 90).

Looking back, ALU power at 65 lbs wasn't at all bad and I used to hit harder (although flatter) back then.

Not sure why I'm posting this since I'm not actually recommending it, but thought I'd mention it in case someone else here's tried it and actually vouches for how good (or bad) it is, I suppose...

Not sure i understand. Are you ditching the kev for poly??

If so have you played with the kevlar and a smooth cross or just something like a syngut? If not try a smooth cross

I only did poly crosses and have strung the following over 80lbs:

Mosquitobite
Prince tournament poly
Alu power i think or bigbanger 130. Some lux string that was silver
Ashaway monogut (not monogut ZX)
Revolve i think i did over 75

Strings that were no good over 60-65:
Monogut zx
Isospeed baseline 16g

No clue how any of them would work as mains. Fwiw i am planning to do a full bed of prince tournament poly at 75-80 in a spin racket

Inthink esgee is right in that the thicker gauges are better for high tensions but mosquitobite is 18g so maybe its not a hard and fast rule?? Maybe any stiff poly would work?

Ones i was going to try that i think would work:
4g 16g
Dunlop ice
Spikey shark

Also i did nylon crosses at 86 with no issues

Yes I'm moving on from kevlar, Babolat Origin to me plays like a soft poly . It plays well at high tensions conversely RPM blast at that high a tension is awful for me.

Well if you are trying to replace kevlar at those tensions it will be tough i think as the kevlar is much stiffer. Maybe try a 15g

When you say blast is awful what do you mean??
