My predictions in the world of ATP:
  • The Federers will expect another child
  • Mr. Soderling will finally win Roland Garros (third times a charm, as they say)
  • Mr. Nadal will face a controversy, master-minded by an underground cult of Federer's fans
  • Mr. Blake will think about retirement, only to change his mind because of the cool FILA clothing line.
  • Mr. Murray (Andy) and Mr. Djokovic will announce their engagements, not with each other.
  • Mr. Roddick will hire a new coach, but keep his wife
  • Mr. Dimitrov will qualify for a grand slam (don't know which)
  • Mr. Hewitt will announce his retirement

Del Potro winning a major and finishing top 4?
I would say it`s unlikely. If he could win a few small tournaments he should be happy after 1 year absence. He might face a Federer or Nadal in first round or so in Australia and that wouldn`t surprise me

So who the hell finishes as nr.1?

You see Fed getting the nr.1 but not finishing 2011 as nr.1 and I don't see anything about year end nr.1 on your list.

Ok, I edited a couple of things.
Fed will finish as number one, but in the middle of the season Fed and Nadal will be going back and forth as number 1.
Murray will lose his number 4 just after the AO, since Soderling lost on the first round and Murray has to defend 1200 points.

Leaving comment aside on your usual absolutist bollox, Murray defends 705 points from the end of AO until Wimbledon. Soderling defends 2520. Want to put money on Murray not being top 4 by the time they hit SW19?

Djokovic to win a major

Murray to once again not win a major, drop out of top 4

Hewitt to make 1 last run to the top 15 with the help of Tony Roche

Nadal to get injured, win RG anyway but no other major

Federer to win Wimbledon

Del Potro return to form

Soderling to drop from top 5 but stay in top 10.

If Federer wins the Australian Open and Wimbledon (gets back to no 1 for that 2 weeks!) and beats Nadal in one of those finals, I'll be more than happy.

Federer - finishes at no 1 wins the Australian Open Wimbledon and 1-2 Masters titles + some other small titles

Nadal - sweeps the clay court season and does average/well on every other surface

Djokovic - I'm not expecting anything from him, some major quarters, semis, does well in the Masters finals/wins perhaps

Murray - I think it's now or never for Murray to win a Slam with his style of play. I'm actually rooting for him to win the US Open (ah what the heck!). Big slump in the first half of the year, could do well in Indian Wells/Miami tho.

Del Potro - I don't see him even in the top 30, he's going to rebuild his form very slowly, but steadily

Roddick - I think it's over for him (sorry to write this cause I really like the guy), drops out of the top 15

Ferrer/Verdasco/Berdych - out of the top 10. Fast!

Tsonga out of the top 20

Soderling hangs around 4-7 with decent results

Melzer reaches top 10 and keeps it for the first 3 months of the year

agreed, 2 slams would be fantastic.

I could see him winning 2 of the AO, Wimbledon, and USO. FO is probably Nadal's. I think Nadal has finally figured out how to beat Murray on HC -- as he should, he is flat-out the better player. So I'd say that any meetings between Nadal and Murray at the AO or USO will go to Nadal.

Gasquet back in the top 10. Maybe I'm dreaming. Or maybe he'll finally develop some mental fortitude.

Murray wins AO....I wouldn't want him to win a Major but Fedal is annoying these days.
FO...Djokovic...playes well there but should at least bank on one title.
Wimby....Roddick....his times are coming near and he should do the goran move soon.
US open...Soderling....Can play really well at the US open with his huge serve and paces strokes!

Nadal will win FO and Wim yet again, the AO will be a battle IMO. In order for Nadal to win that title his serve and net game is going to have to be right on!

I will vote Roger for USO.

One of the 3+ guys may suprise us this year on one of the hard courts, perhaps Delpo will be healthy by then?
