Queens vs. Halle

I've been wondering this for a few years. It seems like most of the best players go to play Queens whereas Roger and some others play at Halle. I think that Roger prefers Halle because it's a German tournament, but why do so many of the top players always play Queens? Does it award more points, more prize money, is it a more prestigious tournament?

it's in england as Wimbledon,Federer doesn't play so they have a realistic shot at the title,it's a nice tournament.

Halle is not that impressive this year vs Queens in terms of people who played. Then again the field is split and there are good players in both toureys. I prefer Queens because of the venue, its spectacular.

I think this was always the way it was.. Roger doesn't need big competition early on in the grass season. Finds his way in Halle, plays some matches and that';s his way to prep for wimbledon. Queens always had the stronger field and a great atmosphere, I like that tournament and would love tyo see Federer play it.. but he does his way, and Wimby is of course the one that matters.

Federer played Queens once, he won three games.
I like both tournaments, it's awesome seeing grasscourt tennis, and Queens is only 20 minutes from my house so it's very accessable for me.

I really really really liked Queen's when I went there yesterday, loved how it's squeezed inbetween some houses in Kensington and how Centre Court involves putting up a temporary stadium around the clubhouse and the nearest court.

Well lets see,

Halle is in Germany and it has a bigger payout than Queens(30,000 more Euros) so why wouldnt he play Halle. Not to mention any appearnce fees he gets plus the fact that he is reining champion.

I like both, but Queens is clearly the second greatest grass tourney in the world now.

Just saw Fed demolish Kiefer and after that entering the Tv studio and analyzing the game LIVE together with the commentator - it's good fun to listen to Fed speaking his first language, Switzer-Deutch :D

He was in the studio for 10 minutes - really great to watch Fed on loose terms, so to speak.......

He actually almost speaks normal German, very little switzer deutch accent left in him......

halle has a grass blow dryer to keep the moisture off so no slipping and sliding there. it also has a retractable roof so no delayed matches_ for matches that matter, that is.

Does anybody know why Roger always choses Halle over Queens? I mean from past winners including McEnroe, Becker it suggest that Queens is much better.:-? well, maybe he likes to keep a low profile before the big one. 8)

joke but are beer and sausages regular at tennis as wella s at football games there ?

they're more the wine and champagne crowd but yes, beer and sausages are staples at any event... oh and football fans are a different lot. then, yes, it gets rowdy especially when germany's playing england.
