Question on Soda

Right now I am trying to lose weight and build up my cardio. I do like to drink soda, however all I drink is sprite zero and diet dr pepper. As i look at the can of Dr pepper right now I see 0 cal 0 carb and some sodium. Obviously the sodium is not good for me but how bad is that really?:confused:

You won't need to worry about that if you replace it with something healthier, like water, apple juice, orange juice or milk :D Save your teeth and the rest of the body! Hell, you could just limit yourself to a couple a week and that would definitely benefit you a lot, I know I can't go longer than that before I get the urge to drink something with taste.

I think you need something like 2,500 mg of sodium a day. I don't think the amount in 1 can of pop is going to mess you up.

Zero calories and zero carbs? Hummm, I'll tell you something I've learnt in life. There's nothing free in this world. People think these drinks are the best invention there's been, because they taste nice and won't make you fat. However, who cares about being thin if they are causing you other problems? And it's not just the sodium! Hey, just drink a nice glass of water on every opportunity you get; your body will thank you.

Nobody gets too little sodium -- low sodium usually results from hormonal imbalances or pathologically excessive water drinking, so that's not a concern, and there are far greater sources of dietary sodium than a soda, so it won't be a cause of excess. Surely not the best thing in the world to drink, but not all that bad, though the jury is still out on artificial sweeteners.

just switch to water i used to drink a lot of diet soda but recently (last 2 months) been drinking nothing but water and i feel better. i have this stuff called zipfizz that i put in my waters sometimes and its pretty good also if you want some flavored stuff but wanna give up soda tried flavored water i really like it and its the same as normal water my favorite is aquafinia

I agree with the fellow who says nothing is free in life. I believe the thing about diet sodas is that they decrease your appetite, thus causing a relative weight gain. That said, i have a bad habit of drinking diet coke frequently. My latest thing is to drink from the fountain using small coffee cups rather than picking up the 20 oz. I am sure someone out there has proven that the if you drank water instead of diet coke....you lose weight.

ew, no apple juice, at least not stuff like Motts or something. those are WORSE than sodas. ok, at my high school, they got rid of sodas and replaced them w/ juices w/ 52g of sugar and 180 calories, compared to 36g of sugar and 120 calories. yeah, don't drink juices by large corporations. ur better off w/ soda there.
