You can also rank them regarding their overall power and regarding their hardest stroke.

Davenport has a cannon of a forehand when its hit solidly....serena's backhand can be good even if the footwork into it is sloppy...serve wise I would give it to the williams or sharapova.

Folks, look no further! Practicing on the courts at Key Biscayne, yesterday I saw the biggest baseline fire-power from a WTA player I've ever seen. I've watched live Sharapova, Seles, the Williams sisters and many other WTA player. But so far the winner in the department of fire-power is ARAVANE REZAI (FRA). Took me totally by surprise! I couldn't believe what I was seeing. She uses a Babolat Aero Pro Drive. Hits the FH and 2BH totally flat, and skids them right off the baseline, makes about 2 out of 3, or 3 out of 4 good. I assume the reason she is not #1 in the WTA rankings is because she isn't that consistent and doesn't have much experience. I've never watched her in a match... and I don't know if that's how she plays, low percentage tennis... just going for kill shots... but on that practice court I know what I saw, and it was not an illusion! I saw many ATP players practicing too. She totally matches the power of many ATP players who go for flat kill shots, and beats many of them in the mph department too.

Martina Hingis managed it But yes Justine can crank forehands and backhands with the best of them, she deserves a mention.

Out of current players I'd take Ana Ivanovic for the forehand (I've seen so many times where she hits the ball so hard that her opponents are a few feet away from it and still can't make the shot). Serena for the backhand and second serve. Venus for the first serve.

No bloody way. Seles had heaps of power relative to her peers in that era, but she hit with a suprising amount of top spin and her ability to yank players off the court and then slam a winner into the open space. Serena/Venus and a few other current players can hit winners even when there opponents have good court position.

Ivanovic's forehand is just like Graf's. Serena's backhand is definitely the most powerful, although brute force doesn't mean much if you can't keep the ball in.

Biggest hitter ever was Brenda Shultz from Germany about 15 years ago.. She was like the Boris Becker of serving back in the day.. She used to use the adidas Lendl GTX-Pro T... In todays game, Aliesha Molic from Australia is almost like a twin of Shultz.. Jelena Dokic could also hit the ball hard..

I never knew McCarthy was such a big hitter.Only heard of her serving record beating Venus´s .
What about Sharapovas Backhand ?
Is it as strong as Serenas or a little weaker powerwise ?
