Raonic & New Balance

I recently read a magazine article about how New Balance designed the "perfect" kit for Raonic at AO16. Do you agree? What are your thoughts?

Well the AO16 kit is the most memorable to me. When I think of Raonic I think of that. I wouldn't wear it though

The New Balance 996v3 are my shoe of choice. Not because of Raonic but because they fit me perfectly, have the just right cushion are low to the ground, and have the perfect grip (not too sticky, but not too slick).
I like some NB apparel as well.
Whether Raonic was a good sign or not, the products are good.

New Balance needs to find a new poster boy. Raonic is a total deterrent for ever wearing NB. I don't know what it is, but he looks awkward in whatever he wears.

Agreed. Something off about him. Even my wife has commented on what a dork he looks like.

Also his grip on the serve and fh look awkward and painful.

Raonic looks like the kid who sits in the front of the class and rats you out for looking at someone else's test.

I disagree about the serve motion. It's one of the most elegant, technically perfect serve motions on tour (similar to Roddick, whose game was generally blunt and inelegant, but had an amazing serve motion). His groundstrokes do look painful, though.

Def agree with the first part you wrote.

I think Raonic looked perfect in NB. Matched his dorky/boyish look and great designs. If he always played as well as he did in 2016, I think he would've carried the brand very well and created a distinctive look for himself.

And while we're on the subject of Americans getting clothings deals, it amazes me that Kudla got Lacoste to sponsor him. I can't see Kudla moving much product for them. Doesn't seem worth the time/money.

Do you have the link for the original article about designing the perfect tennis kit?

I liked Raonic in NB, their outfits are a bit unique but nothing extra ugly/out of the ordinary. His average results lately though don’t bring much exposure to the brand and even the women they have signed (Cirstea, Watson, Ferro, Collins) don’t have huge results. They lucked out with Gauff, but wonder for how long did they sign her.

Meanwhile, Tsitsipas is either trolling on Twitter or he can’t keep his mouth shut about being the new tennis face of New Balance
