Are you sure he didn't have lead tape on it somewhere, including underneath the bumper guard? Did you weigh it and balance it yourself?

It's clear from photos that Fed doesn't use the retail nSix-one. I noticed the shorter grip, similar to the PS 85, and am not surprised at the first post's description of the smaller head size. As far as the weight and string tension, Fed's own site says he varies these depending on playing conditions.

Fed uses the k90
I just find it hard to assume that Federer is so dominant and strikes that ball so hard with a swingweight of a stock pure drive +.....
That means that Federer is dominating everyone and returning Roddick's huge serve so easily with a racket that is less stable and less powerful than anyone else on the tour?
was at the Aussie Open yesterday in the wilson tent checking out the latest gear
I asked the Wilson rep what racquet Fed is using and he admited that he is using a 85 square inch head with the throat of the racquet being thicker.
Dudes,
very sorry to bother you, but I held a real Fed raquet in my hands few days ago, given to me to a former pro player ( former top 30 ATP) that happen to be quite friend of Fed.
I cannot check the weight , balance and so on because I was in his home, but we compared the raquet with a normal stick, sold in a shop and the size was totally the same ,90 Sq. no 85, no 88 sq.
He told me that this time Wilson decided to manifacture first the raquet for Fed and then to sell exactly the same ( apart some add weight , a grip done on a Fed Hand and a slight different balance).
No PJ I can tell you.
PS I do not WORK for Wilson.

So, why do people worry so much about Fed's frame? This is a sincere question. Best, CC

^^^ Nope, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night. LOL!!!
Most Wilson reps don't even know that a lighter "Asian" version of the K90 even exists so I wouldn't put too much credence into what some Wilson rep inside the Wilson tent tells you about Federer's real racquet.was at the Aussie Open yesterday in the wilson tent checking out the latest gear

good one Drakulie. after the beating I took from Alpine Cadet I needed a good laugh.
By the way, I made the official switch to the US K factor. I have been playing with heavier racquets the last 2 weeks or so and my arm/shoulder have not tired, so I decided on the switch.

That was a good one, Drak.
You so set him up. I know you've been waiting to say that. Too bad you didnt say "Express". Would of been 100% money.

I think many of us tried polyester strings because the Pros like it. And I'm sure polyester improved the game of many tennis players. So being curious of the equipment of the pros can actually help you. Now since the PS 85 has so many Grand Slams under its belt I'm sure some may think there's something with the racket that has a slight advantage over the others. Now with Fed on the scene I'm sure many feel his racket may also have an advantage over the other rackets on the tour.
I am actually CERTAIN the 6.0 85 has advantages over many other tennis frames. CC
and disadvantages too.
Only if you're not good enough to take advantage of its advantages.and disadvantages too.

I'd say Sampras was probably "good enough".
no doubt he was. unfortunately i would likely hit a better ball with a broomstick than with the 85.
