REVO 4000 vs. cheap electronic

well i am about to purchase my first stringer, and after looking into auto drop-weights and drop-weights, i think the Alpha Revo 4000 will still be my best option. before buying it, does anyone think i should get a cheap electric stringer or a different crank? the Jive looks like an option, and so does the Crump and X-ST. if anyone could compare these or something else to the Revo for me that would be great. thanks.

Get the Revo, I would much rather have it than a cheap electric. The cheaper electrics are not very good. They don't provide very good constant pull at all. And they aren't accurate. I tried to calibrate the Gamma tabletop electric and I got so frustated it was so inconsistent I said screw it.

go with revo and when you have some extra cash lying around get a wise... much better than a cheap electronic

thanks guys, i read somewhere about how bad cheap electrics were, i just wanted to see it for myself :)

just ordered the REVO

Congrats, I'm jealous. I'm going to be getting a machine soon, and I HAD decided on the Revo, but I'm looking for a used machine. That way, I can get a machine that is in relatively good condition, but that would be out of my price range if new. I really like the Stringway MS200, I think I'm going to go with that one, but if for any reason I change my mind for the 100th time, I'm going to go with the Revo and upgrade to the wise when I have more money.

IMO, getting a good crank and adding a wise is better than even going with a higher end electric/electronic. When you get the e/e, if something breaks, you're screwed. You have to either send in the whole machine or take it apart and send in the broken piece. With an upgraded crank, you always have that crank laying around as an insurance policy should the wise go bad.

yeah, having a crank would be awesome with the wise. talk to supracool03, hes selling a gamma X-ST, a 700 dollar machine with the crank used once for 450. shoot him an email.

Thanks, but way ahead of ya. He's in Cali and I'm in SC so it's not going to work out. We'd both like to deal with local people, he doesn't want to have to ship, and I want to be able to give the machine a good once over before I spend the cash.

I'm negotiating with a guy who lives about an hour away from me who is selling a LF MS200DX, a stand machine with constant pull without electricity.
