I can only imagine this was an "in your face" to Stepanek. Roddick really is having issues with those across the net these days. Maybe he knows his days are numbered and over.

Yet he just won a tournament. Even if it is the little ol' SAP Open; it's still a tournament win. But he has picked up the attitude quite a bit in the past few weeks. Maybe is experiencing roid rage!

Nothing seems weird to me. Stepanek did "upstage" Roddick by entering the arena with a Sharks jersey.. much to the crowd's surprise and delight. Roddick even thought it was pretty funny. And since Stepanek is known to do the worm after a win, Roddick just probably thought he'd do something as well.

It looked like he was trying to do a modified Michael Jackson. Regardless, I love that Roddick might be getting a little cooky. All of that pressure of being on the cusp of greatness for so long has to get to a person. I didn't take it as an insult to Stepanek. Now, if he had done the worm, different story.

There really haven't been enough characters in tennis lately. I could always get into a Hewitt match just to see him go nuts. Recently I get the same feeling with Andy. Roger's game is beautiful, but it's not terribly fun. It's like reading a finely crafted literary work, when maybe you just want an easy paperback mystery.

oh, please. every time Federer wins a tournament, he falls on the ground like he just died or something. people complain that roddick isn't fun to watch, and then when he does something fun, he gets criticized anyway. he just can't win with you people.

Do a search at google news and read his post match quotes from Sunday. He pretty much admits to doing it just to be goofy.

Roddick is terrible, i can't belive he would act this way. To show some personality he really should be fined.

Roddick has been cooky (even somewhat dorky) since he started on tour. I once saw him play with a remote controlled car on the court after a win at Legg Mason. Ripping the shirt off after the win over Chang in Paris. After winning his 4th title in Queens, telling coach Conners that "you only won 3, na-na-na-na-naaa-na."

I'm not bashing, but he has a long list of cooky/dorky moves.

Roddick is the man and that was one of the top 5 best SAP Open celebrations I've ever seen.

Yes we've never met. But you don't know anything about me....I know enough about Roddick, even just from watching his many interviews posted on Youtube to make my decision that he is a jerk. Ok i take back the 'hate' part...hate is a strong word. But he is a jerk.

hah I was joking about the top 5, it was a dumb dance at a tiny tournament, I don't get why it's caused so much discussion.

But I think Andy is very funny, if anyone give's better press conferences (especially after painful losses) I'd like to see.

Andy has had practice. Safin is much more natural and funnier.

oh trust me I agree with you rom, Safin's generally a witty and funny guy, while Roddick just has more of an attitude all the time. I love when reporters ask him stupid questions and instead of answering it "graciously" he gives them the "wtf kind of question is that" answer.

I like the mj tribute..and if you win a tournament you should be allowed to do whatever dance you want..besides who cares, it was a just a blip of a dance move..

It was clearly meant as a goofy homage to Stepanek. Stepanek got the joke. Sadly, some of you in here didn't.

I was watching it live and I didn't even realise it was supposed to be a dance move. Thought it was just an odd looking salute.
