Rune, on the frozen ranking: “I’m angry, the system is unfair"

He's right for me.

I feel tired and angry because I think the system is unfair. I love my tennis, but you have to compete on equal terms, “was the powerful message left by the 18-year-old tennis player on his Instagram account.
the young man stressed that “looking 2 years ago in the normal ranking today it would be ranked 62nd in the world and no.124. Does it matter? Yes, when you are ambitious and work hard, it is important to get your reward. With that classification I could participate in better tournaments and I would feel that my hard work has paid off. “

It should be remembered that in August of this year, for the first time since the circuit returned after the pandemic stoppage, the ATP ranking points are added and subtracted through the traditional methodology.

“You know that I am a very hardworking man and normally I never complain. This year I have fought very hard to achieve my goals and become the Top 100. The ATP has continually made it very difficult for me and many other young players to come.“Rune added.

I'm confused by the ranking freeze, is it still going on? Aren't the points supposed to have dropped by now? When does it end?

Id rather see Rune than Rogeriactric its disgusting what is happening to tennis
Thats why Djoker tried hard to push for fairness in these times of tyranny

Players like Rune who are adversly affected by the Covid effect on the rankings should get a WC ahead of some local boy with no points.

I do feel we should have empathy but with what kind of a person?
Top tennis professionals are among the most entitled bunch I have seen. Especially former next gen kids like Zverev and Tsitsipas. Be watchful guys. Don't give in to their tantrums.

I doubt if even Rune's own mother gives a crap what he has to say about anything. Nobody except the most fervent tennis fan even knows who he is.

It’s about the rankings not reflecting what he’s done in tournaments. That won’t change by winning more.
How come then that alcaraz started the year hundred and something and now is 38, are rankings freezed only for rune? I get the point about the tournaments he did last year, but carlos couldnt even participate in them and therefore started the year with less experience, of course its not fair but there was a pandemic and there were some strange things happening so there were some strange rules added, he could have had a better year thats all im saying, its normal that he is frustrated thats for sure

He’s right

They should not have continued the ranking freeze into 2021 when virtually everyone has been able to play a full schedule

Players like Kyrgios for example are benefitting by carrying over points from 2019, even though he actually played those events and performed worse in them this year. I don’t understand the logic of being able to keep the points from the better performance year

Young players like Rune, Sinner, Alcaraz, Musetti etc would have risen up the rankings much faster than they did. Alcaraz for example has won an ATP event and reached a slam quarter and is only ranked 38

I agree that the system is a bit unfair.
But he will surely not be angry when (and if) he stops performing, and the same system protects his ranking. See, it is a common platform, applies to everyone from the #1 to the #2000. Aslan came all the way up to the top 30, from around 300 I guess.
In this system, it is very hard to get there. But it's harder to fall out when you do!

He’s right that the Covid situation has screwed the rankings up but also he’s received like many wildcards in a matter of months while so many others have struggled so like maybe appreciate the situation dude...
He shouldn't need wildcards, that's the point... He deserved his success, it's humiliating to wait for charity if you earned by hard work...
