Safin's racquet according to HEAD

Read this and thought it was exciting... at first...

"The new Head racquet for this year for the pros is the Liquidmetal Prestige MP.

Marat has had a new racquet specifically built for him by Head using the brand new technology of the Liquidmetal Prestige together with certain points of the racquet he used in 2000. The main difference is it is the same weight and balance of the 2000 version and even the grip has been specially moulded to the same specifications as his 2000 model.

So although it may seem a different racquet, it has all the brand new technology of the new Liquidmetal with the few amendments specific to Marat Safin.

In this manner Head has ensured that Marat Safin gets the best out of their racquet and is comfortable playing with Head."

Came from here:

Translation: "Marat is using a Prestige Classic 600 with all the brand new technology of LiquidMetal PaintJob 6000..." (You can add the rest if you wish.)

OK, that was MY impression... hehe

I read that two days ago on Safin's website, and my reaction was: "hmm...what the..." I didn't see any difference in Safin's racquet during the Dubai Open. I thought he always used a midsize PC600 under that Liquidmetal Prestige paintjob.

I ocassionally check his official website now and then, and the first thing that caught my attention was the first very top featured article because I think like last month ago, when he was recuperating and starting to test his right knee (?), his official website DID mentioned that he was testing the latest new racquet from Head and getting accustomed from it (he felt that he liked it) so already that gave me an assumption that from all this time, is it possible that he finally decided to experiment the REAL Prestige Flexpoint? Of course they didn't provided that information but somehow they made it sound kind of suspenseful. And after discovering his comeback at Dubai Open, (pretty sure made some fans wondered like me as well) he's still using his same old LM Prestige PJ! Correct me if I'm wrong (kindly as possible) but is it me or possibly there's some kind of businness deal going with Marat and Head? Looks like a delay or an evil ploy going on to sell more LM Prestiges? I wouldn't doubt that if that's the case...

I would not be surprised if they say that marat likes the new flexpoint prestige so he can turn up with the paintjob. I dont know why he has either not switched rackets or painjobs yet though as many pros already have.

With the junk Head is pushing on players these days, I don't think any of the pro's use current models.
A short time ago, they made quality frames, colleges and pro players selected Head as their first choice, what happened?

Some Pros do use real Head frames. Wawrinka and Acasuso use real Flexpoint Prestige racquets, although probably modified they still incorporate all of the same technology. Ferrero clearly uses a Flexpoint Radical, the primary difference being the extra length. Gasquet uses a real LM Instinct.

and im pretty sure he uses an 16x18 string pattern as opposed to the 16x19 on stock FP rad tour

Yes you are correct about Gasquet and Ferrero and probably Wawrinka too. I'm not convinced about Acasuso though, it still looks like a Prestige Classic 600 to me.

What I am getting out if this is that he is going to be using a 630 version of a Prestige Classic, or maybe even a pro tour 630??
I could be 100% wrong. Was he using a 600 in Dubai, or is he already experimenting with "the new frame"?

You might be right on Ferrero, his ranking has dropped since switching from the POG. If the pro's don't use the new Head frames, why would I.
