Sampras fans - what do you think?

My gut feeling is that if Sampras said those compliments, it would be all over the internet, newspapers and teletext sports section around the world. That would be the highest compliment of all and the media would lap it up. I'm a bit confused I can't find anything on this Tennis Guy.

Both CBS and USA network repeated several times during US Open. I don't agree with your assessment. This US Open has focused so much attention on Agassi, everyone else is on back banner. Sampras has kept low key, the media here don't report what he says that much. - Sampras' comments are always on back page somewhere if it is reported.

I got to thinking about this very topic during those British bank commercials featuring Pete. In one, Pete says, "I had the all-time grand slam record on my racquet and I did it." In another, Pete asks, "Which man holds the all-time record of 288 consecutive weeks at #1? I do!" They seem kinda eeire...like someone knows Pete's window is closing more quickly than anyone would ever have imagined.

From the time Pete won his first slam ('90 USO) to the time he won his last at age 31 ('02 USO), Pete was winning slams at a clip of 1.14 per year.

If Roger plays 7 more years to age 31 (28 slams), he'd have to win at a clip of 1.29 slams per year to break Pete's record.

...6 years (age 30), it's 1.5, or 3 slams every two years for six years.

I didn't change my mind at all. I really think Fed is genius of tennis, but he has one great weakness - trembling, especially against new player, so to say polite character. I recommend him to come to matches with more anger.

I continue count Sampras as the best ever in the history of humankind at least because of the number of GS he won. Imagine the man won 14 GS !!!! The number of GS is the main factor for me, it shows everything - the quality of game, consistency, athleticism.

I continue to consider Fed potentionally better than Sampras but I can't count him best ever untill he doesn't break Sampras record. I hope he will do that and this is the great rivalry for me - Fed against Sampras' record.
