Sampras vs. Djokovic by the numbers

Tying Pete amazing record of 6YE#1. Huge achievement.
you don't seem to understand the question - 20 months from now is not now. For all we know, 90's clay or some other Sampras-fanatic could stab Djokovic before that/he could be in a plane crash/he could get SARS/bird flu etc.
If he ties Sampras' 6 that is indeed a huge accomplishment.

Would it still be a huge accomplishment if at the end of 2017 Federer is still his biggest challenger? ;)

The only record that Djokovic cannot touch is probably 6 straight YE#1. I think this record will stay for several decades.

Yes, you can only beat who's in front of you (and Sampras had some years with easy competition too). But obviously, his no. 1 in 2011-2012 is more impressive in this regard.

IIRC Nole still has a chance with the ITF streak since they gave him 2013 instead Nadal! He played all the finals so they thought he was the player of the year even though he only had an AO title along with several Masters 1000's! ;-)

GS titles: Sampras 14 Djokovic 11 (and likely rising)
WTF: Sampras 5 Djokovic 5
Year End #1 Sampras 6 Djokovic 4 (and likely rising)
Consecutive Year End #1 Sampras 6 Djokovic 2 (and likely rising)
MS 1000 titles: Sampras 11 Djokovic 27 (highest in Open Era and rising)
Career Win Percentage: Sampras 77.44% Djokovic 82.8% (highest in Open Era)
Win Percentage at GS events: Sampras 84% Djokovic 86%
3 slam seasons: Sampras 0 Djokovic 2
Longest streak of SFs in GS: Sampras 3 Djokovic 14
Longest streak of QFs in GS: Sampras 10 Djokovic 27 (and counting)

Two questions:
1) Is Djokovic's total resume already better than Sampras' (despite the deficit in GS titles)?
2) If not, then how long before Djokovic overtakes Pete on the GOAT list?

Looks like Sampras had nothing more than 14 GS titles against a weaker competition.

Bla bla bla... guess what? Djokovic 's king of AO while Sampras is king of no Slam at all.

Are you trying to say AO didn't matter in Sampras' time?

Then LMAO/

Sampras would bagel Djokovic at Wimby? LMAO. No one can Djokovic him there, and Sampras did not bagel any ATG there.

15 Slam and Djokovic > Sampras. That's it.

Rather be joint king of Wimbledon then outright king of the AO. Heck, I'd be 3rd in line to the throne at Wimbledon then outright king of the AO. Heck, I'd take 4 Ws than 6 AOs. Of course the AO matters, but it ain't no Wimbledon. Sampras would bagel Djokovic at Wimbledon. Djokovic has never had to contend with Sampras at Wimbledon so don't get lulled in by the plastic tour at exists today. Sampras to Djokovic would be like two pitbulls to a kitten. Djokovic has NEVER had to contend with a player as aggressive as Sampras at the net but Sampras conquerd plenty of pushers and bashers. I mean don't take my word for it, ask Djokovic's own coach about Sampras at Wimbledon, you silly goose. Stop getting off with the fairies.

Sampras beats Djokovic and Nadal 6-2 6-2 6-0 on Wimbledon CC.

That is all.

Age is number of games.. Why to ask for it.. Appreciate the attitude..
You just post a lot of random stuff. Saying Murray is Novak's biggest challenger, when he's 1-10 since the Lendl-days just doesn't make sense to me. And most of your posts don't.

I don't expect Federer to dethrone Novak at the top and become world no.1 it's more likely to me that Murray has bigger chance of winning another slam than Federer.

Murray def. has a bigger chance than Fed - he's 6 years younger. But at beating Djokovic at a slam here and now, you have to go with Wawa and - imo - also Fed before Murray.

I don't think Fed can beat Djoko at any slams no offence intended, he can't beat him at his favourite slams then there no way he can, Murray has a better shot at winning Wimbledon against Djokovic than Fed does based on h2h and 5-0 in sets against Djokovic. Wawa remains dangerous as you never know when he will peak.

Fair point on Wimbledon and h2h and Fed not coming through in 2014-2015.
I just think that a no. 2, who's 1-15 vs. no. 1 and no. 3 in the past 2 years and a bit is not really a threat to anyone of the two until proven otherwise.

- 4W > 6AO? just 4 Slams vs 6 Slams - no more no less

- Sampras would bagel Djokovic at Wimbledon? Pete bageled no-one. No-one bageled Nole.

- Sampras to Djokovic would be like two pitbulls to a kitten? No. It's like one pitbull vs this gang

- Sampras conquerd plenty of pushers and bashers? Yes. None of them is at Nole's level.

- You silly goose?:D You stupid duck!

- Sampras beats Djokovic and Nadal 6-2 6-2 6-0 on Wimbledon CC? He beats Nole 7-6, 5-7, 7-6, 2-6, 11-9 at Wimby Centre Court and beaten by Nole 3-6, 4-6, 1-6 at Rod Laver Arena.

That's it.

4 Wimbledons or 6 AO? I'll take the 4 Ws. As for the AO, it depends how fast the court plays. But it wouldn't be straight sets, either way.

No.

1-2 years probably. And i think most ppl are expecting him to pass 14 now.

He can surpass sampras if he wins the next 3 slams.

He has an ITF streak which is still alive, also many of Nadals No.2 years he had more points than Petes No.1 years, when both Nole and Pete have 6 YE#1 an intelligent person would to put Nole 6>Pete6#1

Even the next 2 are enough, that will Nole THREEPEAT tying Fed and Pete don't even have 1 season where he won 3 slams.

ITF is not a world number 1 rank. It's a prom king equivalent award. If Nole gets to #6, he'd tie with Pete, not surpass him. Any person with ability to count can acknowledge that.

Updated : Add another Year End #1 to Novak, (Sampras now 6>5)
Add two MS1000 for Nole 29>>>>Sampras 11
Career win percentage now 83.05%!! Sampras nearly 6 points lower and YES this is a lot!
3 slam seasons (likely Djokovic will win at least one more GS this year)
28 straight GS QF!,
Novak has made 23 of the last 24 GS SF (absurd stat unrivaled by Pete)
Career Slam for Nole
Holds all four major titles consecutively
