Pretty poor loss today, losing the match from a set up, and whining a bunch in the process. It seems that Zverev has the tools he needs, but he's just getting himself into wayy too many crosscourt rallies, with no idea on how to get further in the point whatsoever. Doing too little with that forehand, which for him means that it sits up nicely. Also served craply.

Zverev's height is a problem. It's what he does with it. Because he moves so well for his size, and because how good and solild his backhand is, he hasn't fully developed his first strike tennis yet. He's probably also got some filling out to do. I think he'll be hitting a bigger ball yet.

I'm already convinced he can beat anybody except Murray and Djokovic when they play well. That's why I want him to reach Djokovic. If he can hang with the Djoker I think he'll be ready to challenge all slams and go for top 5 next year.

Next year will heavily depend on how he develops his forehand. He's too happy to grind right now. Lack of constant agression is the only reason he lost a winnable match to Tsonga, and it's the only way he has a chance against good Murrovic. It seemed he was working on this on grass because grass exposes his movevent too much, but also on clay, where he gets a lot of shoulder height forehands with decent time, he shouldn't be thinking in terms of 'I'm gonna hit a good rally ball' but more in terms of 'FIRE IN THE HOLEEEE'.

In other news, is Sascha playing Basel/Vienna?

Today's victory was huge for him. Servebot city from Isner (28 aces, 1 DF in a loss!) with a typical scoreline for his matches... but there was some real clutch play interspersed. That was a tough L for Isner. He had his chances. Zed saved three MPs, though. He absorbed the barrage, and came through. Looked no worse for the wear when that one wrapped. A W he'll savor.
