Williams is lost cause
For all her talk, Serena Williams will never return to the top again
IF ANYBODY is qualified to make deluded statements about tennis, it is a former world No 1 and winner of seven Grand Slam titles. But when Serena Williams arrives in Australia on her first foreign playing trip in a year and announces that it is only a matter of time before she is again dominating the sport, it’s time to tell her to get real.

Pat Cash must feel pretty stupid right about now.

I mean she won that tournament, so he probably already felt dumb a couple of weeks later. Nothing that he said was incorrect at the time he said it, so talking with 8 years of hindsight doesn't make him look particularly bad.

Clearly something was incorrect about what he said at the time he said it given that she won that very same tournament 2 weeks later.

And just about every player that he named as the future of women's tennis has not amounted to much and/or is retired already.

But the washed up Serena Williams who he predicted was done dominating tennis is still dominating tennis 8 years later.

Cash is an example of why one should never use the appeal to authority argument by saying : "I'll take the word of a tennis expert like so and so over yours"

Actually none of the so called ex pro/former great tennis experts are speaking as tennis experts, eg Mac, they are really speaking as talk show hosts.
