share your favorite sandwich recipes

so, ingredients should be those that everyone can purchase from a typical supermarket.

here's mine

white bread; 2 slices of kraft singles; honey; black pepper; coriander; cumin; Lays plain potato chips

the instructions:
1. drizzle honey on one slice
2. place kraft singles on top of the honey
3. sprinkle the seasonings on top of the two slices
4. put potato chips on top
5. crush potato chips with the other slice to form a "sandwich"

I think the Cuban is my current favorite -- roasted pork, ham, swiss cheese, pickles. Inner tube optional.

These Vietnamese sandwiches - mi wah, or something like that - are all the rage in NYC currently. Some meat, some pate, and every spicy pickled vegetable you can think of, on a soft hero roll. They're great but maybe a little over the top for some palates.

it's muy delicioso. all sorts of flavors. all sorts of textures. it's like a party in your mouth, and everyone's invited.

It's like a party in my mouth and everyone is throwing up.
It's like a party in my mouth and everyone tastes disgusting.
It's like a party in my mouth and everyone hates me.

I can go on and on...

ok then. to each his/her own. do you have any suggestions for a "showstopper"?

I personally like PB&J, but for more disconcerting tastes, I take rye bread, place a layer of mozzarella cheese on the bottom, put on a slice of tomato and then add a spice of your choice (I like basil or garlic,) then add 2 slices of deli meats (I either use pepperoni/turkey or turkey/ham depending on what I have) and then place another slice of rye on top (this is optional.) Place in oven at 400 until cheese is melted or the top of the bread (if using a 2nd piece of rye) is golden brown.

You can also not use a pan and cook it on the bare shelf of the oven to get grill marks. Just use 2 spatulas to flip it over.

Well, my pretentious friend, "artisan" merely means it's made by someone who knows what he's doing, i.e. it means essentially nothing. Pick a type of bread.

This is called Banh Mi. Literally translating to Sandwich. Inspired by French Bread, it's like a french sub. With lots of different combinations it truly is a great sandwich. This is what makes me glad I'm Viet. Nothing beats home cuisine!

This is the first post of yours that I have ever seen, and I like you already.

On topic. I am a fan of chicken cutlet, roasted red peppers and melted mozzarella on a hero.

Good old fashioned carnival style sausage, peppers and onions, on a hero.

And roast beef, horseradish, red onion, lettuce, beefsteak tomato, and sharp chedder on toasted sourdough.

California club on toasted rye.

And sometimes nothing beats a nice big pastrami ruben. Sometimes with Mustard, sometimes with Russian Dressing.

artisan bread,
organic tomatoes
fillet mignon
the plasma (steak sandwich)

translation:

artisan bread: bread
fillet mignon: beef
organic tomatoes: tomatoes
the plasma: bread, beef, tomatoes (BBT)

no sauce? no onions? a steak sandwich without onions! that is sacrilege!!!!

I love to get some hearty crusty bread and some fresh tomatoes, some sliced chicken, lettuce and mayo....
oh and nothing like a good proscuit ( say "pruh-jhooT") every once in a while. I would say Proscuitt-(o) but from early on I learned to pronounce it correctly or duck the flying shoe.

Sounds great BUT finding a decent Russian dressing is very tough to do. If anyone knows of a good Russian dressing or a recipe for one PLEASE contact me with it at mctennis72@yahoo.com
Thanks.

It's all about the hearty crusty artisan bread. A loaf of bread can have multiple personalities, I don't think I could eat a sandwich on a McDonald's bun. Then again, I think I'm the only one here not dieting. Can't beleive that the chosen one, the one who seriously has more knowledge on training than the rest of us combined (slick Rickson) hasn't mastered the push back...
Getting published for the fifteenth time this month, Jolly, in my mind I've earned the right not to have to correct obvious misspellings by making "cheddar" with my writing...

what kind of writing do you do? where did you get published??

today, i tried another sammich. F***acha bread (i know, real mature), sliced grilled chicken boob, thinly sliced sweet mango, thinly sliced red onion, mayo with a bit of curry spice mixed in.

i'd say that it ALMOST tastes just as good as my potato chip sandwich.

No recipes here, but my favourite would have to be the Rueben. Coming in a close second would be the Monte Cristo, followed by a good ol' fashioned grilled cheese. Honourable mentions to the turkey and swiss, the egg salad and the tuna melt.

Toasted Buttermilk bread
Scrambled eggs
Sliced Cucumbers
Mayonnaise

That's what I had this morning...

Other times would usually be:
Toasted Buttermilk bread
Extra Lean ham from Costco!
Romaine Lettuces
Tomatoes
Ketchup
Mayonnaise

That sounds revolting...but for some reason I want to try it.

J

I think it goes together really well. I was going to put soy sauce but instead, I squeezed in some mayonnaise on both slices of bread, then some eggs, then a few slices of cucumbers in the middle, then some more eggs, then top that off with a squeeze of mayonnaise, and put the other bread on, and you're ready to go!

Wash it down with some milk or orange juice if you like. Tell me how you like it if you're planning to try it!

Replace mayo with homemade hollandaise sauce and you could maybe have invented an instant classic. where do you get buttermilk bread?

that sounds like soft serve food. My bread isn't wrapped in plastic. My bread reads 5.0 desert eagle Batard, your bread read "Replica". Then again, what does the guy with model six pack abs know??? let's just make fun of him and eat our soft serve food...

Come on man, do you seriously expect to be able to brazenly boast that your bread that you buy to make a sandwich with is better than someone elses bread that they buy to make a sandwich with, and NOT get made fun of?

I agree with what you're saying J011y. Not everyone can go out to the bakery everyday to get a fresh loaf of bread.

The man is serious about his bread, I will give him that.

I never thought much about it one way or the other.

I just buy whatever bread I want.

No man, I get it, you like bread. Hearty, crusty, artisan bread.

You like bread, and you like adjectives.

I love bread. I also love burgers. I wouldn't call what they serve at Mickey Dee's a burger though. Nor would I call Orowheat Buttermilk(toast) bread.
