I am looking for a racquet that would play similar to a Wilson Pro Staff 6.1 Classic 95 sq. 16x18. I love this racquet but it is pretty old and I am looking for a modern replacement. If you have any questions about the racquet, please feel free to ask. Thanks in advance!

Agree with our pals above. I played the 6.1 Classic for several years and the RF 97 seems to be Wilson's attempt at a modernized reissue of that racquet with a slightly larger hoop.

When I switched away from the 6.1 Classics, I took up with the Volkl C10. This is a frame with a static weight and balance that are similar to the 6.1 Classic, but the C10 also has distinctively more flex. When I first got a couple of C10's, they gave me a big boost in control around the baseline that I was lacking with the powerful 6.1 Classics. Those old ProStaffs are stiff and hefty - great for serve and volley play or doubles action, but a bit too hot to also give me the consistency I wanted with my strokes.

The newer C10's seem to have slightly more backbone than the earliest generations of that frame, which play like ultra cozy gummy bears on a stick. Yes, the newer ones are also quite comfortable and their heft gives me more potential for power than I get with my other racquets. They also play more like a 95" frame than a 98" for me, perhaps because the face narrows down slightly up toward the tip compared with a traditional oval shaped head. Like the 6.1 Classic, this Volkl also has a graphite/Kevlar composition. Coincidence? Hard to say...

The Volkl Super G 10 might be another frame to check out, but expect that one to probably need a little lead tape to get the heft and stability that the 6.1 Classic offers right out of the box. Tecnifibre has offered some 95" frames with some heft and moderate stiffness, but not quite as heavy as the Classic. I've also enjoyed a couple of discontinued Yonex models through recent years that played like larger versions of the 6.1 Classic (RDS 002 Tour, RD Ti-80), but haven't tried anything from the current lineup that might be worth a look.

Later generations of the 6.1 95 didn't seem too interesting to me until Wilson came out with the more recent Amplifeel models of this racquet. Slightly leaner than the old Classics, but substantially more comfortable players, especially compared with the K Factor and initial BLX versions of this racquet. A couple of the kids on the high school team I coach have found a great fit with these Amplifeels over the last year of so.

Another mention of the RF97. The Yonex Tour G 330 also worth a try, a lower stiffnes, but similar weights and plow thru.
