Sinner Looked Awful In The Third Set. Embarrassing!

First set level from Sinner was astronomical. Some of the highest level hardcourt tennis we have seen since the mid-2000s.

The guy was literally everywhere, slapping winners from everywhere and dictating from the baseline, and he won some net exchanges that were frankly awe-inspiring.

There’s nothing to worry about. We saw the level he is capable of even against a GOAT-in-the-making like Carlitos Alcaraz.

Sinner’s wheels fell off big-time later in the match. We need to acknowledge that Sinner is probably a bit mentally and physically fried, but we also need to recognise the little maestro over the other side of the net. Alcaraz was always going to answer the challenge Sinner has set with his superlative form this year, the same way Sinner will inevitably answer Alcaraz’s challenge again, too.

We have a classic see-sawing rivalry in the making here.

I must admit I was worried that Sinner was going to take over with his newfound serve dominance but Carlitos has said “No Mas!” :giggle:

And Carlos slapped 2 winners and 12 unforced errors in the 1st Set, so its not like Sinner was under pressure.
2nd Set Carlos kept the ball in play and Sinner had very little to say...

Excellent summary. After eating his early breadstick Carlos smiled, moved back and cried “¡No pasaràn!”. And the fluffy balls did no longer…

It was a wonderful plot twist. I am under no illusion as to how much Sinner is going to continue winning this year, but to see Alcaraz re-announce himself like this was awesome. And he did the Alcaraz clutch thing and made sure he won the title match as well.

These two are doing amazing things. If we can get Korda and Rune into the picture as well we are on our way to complete fireworks. Do you think Rune is on track to get to a similar level eventually or have Sinner and Alcaraz created too much of a gap?

I was looking at tennis stats and still remember the wonder when time and time Alcaraz entered the Sinner stat chat. He had already beaten Jannik with superb tennis in that now famous challenger match in Alicante, almost five years ago.

Rune is a strange player, he can look great but isn’t stat-wise. Usually this doesn’t end that well if you think about Shapo as example. Still his growing pains are partly because he wants it so much. That inner fire and will to work should give him a much better chance to avoid that fate.
