Climbing up to a career-high 11th in the rankings this week. Now only 325 points behind 10th placed Wawa. Can and will he make the top 10?

If he can win more than 200 points between now and US open over Wawrinka then he can be in the top 10. But he will be defending 500 points from Tokyo so it may not last long even if ge gets there.

Kei is incredible. I remember watching him beat Ryan Sweeting in Carson a few years back, and thought this guy is going places. By the way Ryan raged so hard after that loss that he obliterated his racket to the point where all he had left to hold on to was the pallet. I have seen him play many times live since on much larger stages, and he is the epitome of composure. Who says you have to be 6' plus to make it in the pros. Superior intelligence and technique will make you successful in this game.

Nishikori is only going downhill from here.

Fast, lower bouncing surfaces from here on out do not favor his full western forehand and heavy topspin backhand.

Stoked for Kei he's one of my favorite players. Didn't realize he was almost top 10 now. So awesome.

Whatever happened to Sweeting? He was playing great there for a while, now I never hear about him.

no Japanese male player has ever been in the world top 10..

he had project-45 a while ago..to get higher than 45 rank which was japans highest at that time..project-10 it is then.

I see Nishikori updates here on TV almost every time he has a match. Before he came along, the best ranking for a Japanese male was Matsuoka Shuzo's #46. He's breaking all kinds of records. I really hope he cane break into the top ten and stay there for awhile.

kei is overrated though. hes kind of like verdasco. good but not top 10 material. hes more consistent though. i think time will wear him out sooner than later. his game is not big enough. hes just using the system to gain points and climb up

what? comparing Kei to Verdasco?
they are like at the opposite end of the spectrum.
