I hadn't really paid attention to this part of the draw to be honest, so sorry if I missed any discussion around this, but I was kind of bummed to see this match up in the first round as a red blooded American.
Fritz had a chance in the 5th after being down 4-2 to take it to 5 all from a few gifts from Sock, but his youth, lack of strength, and sometimes awkward footwork ended up costing him.
As stated, I wish one of these players did not have to go home after round 1, but would much rather have seen the young gun get a win over such a pedestrian as Jack Sock.
Still have high hopes for Fritz and Tiafoe as well. Just pumped for the rest of this tourney to play out!!
