Taylor Fritz: First American To Reach The ATP Top 5 Since Andy Roddick

Shapo and FAA managed to get near the top before they had even won anything.

Expectations can be a life changing thing! I still recall Shapovalov being cheered onto victory over Nadal at Canadien Open years ago! He made that Wimbledon SF, but that's been about it! FAA has a nice, solid game, but nothing that can't be held off on slower courts! :cautious::);)

No disrespect to Fritz, who I quite like as a player, but 3600 points to get to world number 5 is a bit pitiful.

Del Potro had 6825 of them after his USO win back in 2009 and that took him into the top 5 with that haul, behind the 4 you would expect. He would have been number 1 after the USO with that total last year.
Delpo was top 5 even before the USO though. He was at RG at least.
