Solecourt Boost upper eyelet digging into foot?

Hello, I was wondering if others have dealt with a similar issue with Solecourt Boosts where the upper part of the eyelet digs in to your foot? Can't tell if it's the shoe itself or the shoelace that is actually doing the digging. Only workaround I've found was to tie the laces as loosely as possible. Tried wearing two socks which helped but still felt the "dig" if I laced at a normal tightness, and tried using a runners loop which made it worse. Also tried to cover the area with moleskin and it did not make any difference (but have not tried moleskin in combination with 2 socks).

I was hoping it would improve after breaking in but I've used them for a good 6-7 hours now and no improvement.

Any suggestions on what I could be done? Any others who have experienced this and found a good solution?

Picture of area in question for reference:

Thanks!

Yes. The collar does dig in. I solved it by replacing the original sock liner with a thicker one. The thicker sockliner raised my heel enough so that the rear of my foot sits higher in the shoes. No more digging.

Indeed a serious issue with this shoe. One early outing in ankle socks and my ankle got shredded there and the scab is still there weeks later. Double crew socks a requirement but I still feel it a little bit. Still figuring out whether to keep playing in this shoe or the new Speeds which are smoother and faster rides but not as stable of course. An exact middle ground would be ideal.

you should really wear proper tennis socks rather than those seemingly very thin, very low cut socks (even if you do wear two pairs). I practised in a new pair of SCBs just the other day for an hour and felt what you described a little bit. Then I played a three hour match in them 2 days later and didn't feel it at all. Get a pair of adidas' alphaskin max cushion socks or something similar.

Yep.

Same advice for those who complain from thin shoelaces.

I have narrow feet so this has not ever been an issue. I would suggest to wear 2 pairs of socks, the low ones are fine but throw some athletic crews over them. Your feet will thank you later.

Yes, it's an issue for me with this shoe. I wear proper tennis socks. What I have to do is pull the tongue over to that side for some extra padding.

Wide feet, high instep, with Superfeet Orange inserts.

These shoes plus SF Orange isn't too heavy/muddy? Seems like it would be. I do wish there was a tad more forefoot cushioning in the SCB.

The big thing is how your medial malleolus sits in the shoe. Mine would rub but if I replace the insoles with an insole with a heel cup it elevates my malleolus just enough to keep it from rubbing. I've had this problem with a few shoes in the past. insoles or heel lifts always solved the problem.

I can't say I'm loving them. Out of nowhere, since wearing them I'm also having trouble keeping my calf muscles intact, which hasn't been an issue for 12-15 years.

I haven't seen anything else in the Adidas line which looks appealing, either. Generally don't like Nike because they don't do me any favors with wide foot/ high arches/ high instep.

Maybe I'll give Asics a look.

Asics doesn't do "wide" at least regarding their standard fit.

So we’re the same foot type, then - and It’s rough out here for us, man. The new Asics speeds are pretty decent, especially on clay, but I had to half size up for a truly comfy fit. The Resolutions are more stable but it’s hard to lock in the ankle, apparently especially for people with high arches. The Solecourts are nice but I’m also in a Like but not Love situation with them, as there are times I’m moving and I feel like the shoe isn’t moving 100 percent with me. Speeds are better for this, yet not as stable of course. No perfect answer.

for me the best ever Asics were the Speed 2s and the GR5s.

Yes, it's a problem. After playing for 6 hours with Adidas sole court boost, the collar is still digging medial malleolus and has not softened up yet. Actually, it makes a wound on the lower part of right malleolus and it's painful. I'm trying to find a way to keep using the shoes as It helps a lot to control my Achilles tendonitis problem. The collar is creating problems on my right foot only, the left one is fine. Probably, I'll try some heel cup on my right leg and some padding between the collar and my upper foot to see if rubbing is not happening and provide my feedback here again. I don't have this problem with any shoes till now. This is the first time it's happening. But, I agree, apart from this problem, the shoe is perfect, and I have less pain in my Achilles after a couple of hours of the game.

Exact same situation and issue for me. Got these shoes to help with achilles tendonitis, and use a medical grade orthotic to beef up the arch and hold the heel in place. Works well for the achilles but digs into the inside upper part of the ankle quite badly. Tried band aids under the sock without luck. Was previously using the nike gp turbo without this issue, or frankly any other shoe did not have this issue

It's been more than four months, and my movement on the court is better than ever with this shoe. Also, Achilles tendonitis is in control. Digging of the medial malleolus has gone away after 15 hours of play, and since then, it's comfortable.
