Solinco Short Sets

I started to string a racket this evening with my last set of Hyper G 17. While uncoiling it, I felt like it wasn't long enough. So, I measured it and, low and behold, it was 32.5' long. Not enough to string a Pure Strike 18x20. Had to tell the customer that I had Tour Bite, but no more Hyper G. Just as a precaution, I measured the Tour Bite. 37'. Well, plenty to do the racket, but well short of the 40' it said on the package. Have any one else experienced Solinco sets that are not 40' like they are marked on the package?

nope, never heard of that. Although I have only strung this string fewer than 20 times, not hundreds like a pro. I would take a pic and contact customer service, might get a free set or two out of it...

Yeah I have run into this and contacted solinco. They will take care of it though will act like they've never heard of it. Came up short on two sets of Hyper G Soft.

Don't have the package for the Hyper G any more, but saved the string in case I needed it for a hybrid or something. With the TB, 37' was enough to string the racket, so no big deal (this time), but what if I had been stringing a Weed and needed more than 37'.

If the label says 40 ft, it has to be 40 ft.
You may be able to do 2 crosses of 116x18 pattern, but I am not sure. Measurement can confirm it,
I never measure string from set. But this is a QC problem.

LOL oh it does, does it?

Over the years I’ve measured a handful of packaged 40ft sets. Most were spot on 40ft, or very close to it. But there were a few that were short and a few that were over, too.

Bottom line, just because the package says “40ft,” it’s not advisable to assume that’s exactly what’s in there.

Good on you for catching that before you started stringing the racquet @Steve Huff.

If you are about to string a larger pattern frame, 18x20, then it makes sense to measure it before cutting.
In that case reel gives better choice.
