Katherin Hui will be good enough to turn pro in 2 years and probably top 50 WTA right away. but she needs to improve her doubles skills. She looked bit lost on the doubles court in the NCAA regionals
Well if you are right and she cracks the top 50 in singles she wouldn’t need to bother with doubles!Katherin Hui will be good enough to turn pro in 2 years and probably top 50 WTA right away. but she needs to improve her doubles skills. She looked bit lost on the doubles court in the NCAA regionals
Bold prediction Danny! But not that far fetched as they made the final four last year. I just worry about the transition for the freshmen particularly Hui as it’s unlikely Yu will dislodge Xu from the “A” lineup. And yes Blokhina needs to dominate in the middle of the lineup as she’ll likely play the 4 spot again (or perhaps 5 with Hui at 4)And yet however good Hui is I dont think Lele will change the existing 1-3 players. We know that Blokhina too gets great results in ITFs but her first college year can only be described as average. If all 6 players play to their potential Stanford wins NCAAs this year ….
Hui at #1. Go cardNew rankings out today. Good to see Ma at #11 . For the rest Blake #48, Yepifanova #49, Zu #50, Blokhina #64
Doubles Blake/ Blokhina #27, Ma/ Yepifanova #28
While they don’t mean much at this stage ( Blake for instance has only played 2 singles and 2 doubles matches so far ) it does give them all a solid base for when the real action starts .
Do you mean position on the line up or that she will end up #1.in the rankings ? She is a great player no doubt but I don’t think she will start in Stanford’s top 3 and ending her freshman year #1 in the rankings is a huge ask. It can be difficult adjusting to the different pressures of college tennis as witnessed by Blokhina last year and indeed by a disappointing 2 early losses by Hui at All American qualifying and consolation. A great addition to the team though as is Yu.Hui at #1. Go card
She has had a solid 6-2 start but her highest win against a ranked player so far was against #28 Rencheli of NC Statesurprised Yep was ranked so low at 49
Why would you engage in discussion with a troll, as if some rational conversation is happening with him?Do you mean position on the line up or that she will end up #1.in the rankings ? Ok , noted for the future !Why would you engage in discussion with a troll, as if some rational conversation is happening with him?
She is by far the best singles player in the lineup. Doubles is entirely different matter. Well, Nostradamus picked up the serving yips, so there's that. Are you better than Fedace?
Yepifanova is going the way of Ma. She didn’t play the pro circuit at all last summer. She said in an interview she would be doing an internship. I thought she’d have pro aspirations having been a top ITF junior and made the final of the US Open just before matriculating at StanfordShe has had a solid 6-2 start but her highest win against a ranked player so far was against #28 Rencheli of NC State
i think that‘s a little hard Ss. Yep is a High level player and guess the internship was important for her. I don’t think one quiet summer means she’s given up on pro tennis. And Ma is looking a lot better again now. She had an injury that affected her last year. Hopefully Blake’s injury will also completely clear up in time for the opening matches next month against San Diego and Texas A&M. Only downside to those matches is that it makes it Impossible for the Card Women to play the ITF events starting 8 January .Yepifanova is going the way of Ma. That wasn’t my intent. I just meant Yepifanova’s commitment has gone the way of Ma’s They are both super good. But Ma never plays over the summer and still remains among the top 30 womeni think that‘s a little hard Ss. Yep is a High level player and guess the internship was important for her. FRREEEEEEEE!!!!!How much are tix for Stanford Mens and Women's matches? Heard someone saying that tickets were free. Probably not true, but OTOH, a lot of these Div 1 college matches seem to have 90% of the seats empty. Might as well have free admission.
he's just a hater who knows nothing about this team, just a pretender... LOL he's the guy you have to watch out for..Ok , noted for the future !
Hui is future #1 player in WTA tour, so this is great opportunity to watch her grow and become very powerful pro player before she joins the WTA tour and start dominating there as well.FRREEEEEEEE!!!!!
Stanford men's team is #1 in realityDoes anyone else listen to the Cracked Rackets Podcast? They are currently doing a pre-season top 10 countdown and looks like, though still to be announced, that Stanford W will be picked to be the No. 2 team in the nation at the start of the season. Stanford M have been picked for the No. 5 slot.
I assume UNC is no. 1 . There are not many teams with the strength Stanford has in its roster this year.Does anyone else listen to the Cracked Rackets Podcast? re: Cracked Racket podcast. So podcast is available and the pre-season prediction is Stanford at No. 2. There are some interesting observations about the team that are talked about on the podcast. Ya'll should give it a listen.
Let's Go Card!! Fear the Tree!Yoohoo,,, season starts tomorrow in sandiego. playing Texas A&M on saturday which is #2 ranked. this should make for a good practice. GO CARD
Interesting to see Yepifanova at 3. She could be the best 3 in women’s college tennis if she continues to play there. Either her or Tanguilig of UNC but I’d go with her.Stanford def U San Diego today. Lineup was as follows: Blake, Ma, Yep, Blok, Hui & Xu. Top 4 players all won their matches.
Texas A&M on Sunday!
Total domination for the Card. Let's goInteresting to see Yepifanova at 3. She could be the best 3 in women’s college tennis if she continues to play there. Either her or Tanguilig of UNC but I’d go with her.
Also would like to see Hui get some wins so that her confidence gets a boost. Nice to see Blokhina get off to a good start. She is a skill player. Beat Brengle in the pros and Brantmeier of UNC while they were still juniors. If she plays to her potential, look out!
Yep was the victim of a bad overrule on a line call towards the end of the match and it definitely affected her after that in the 3rd set tie-breakGreat win for the Card. Back Courts came through for the team...led by Blokhina. Xu has become money. And a nice bounce-back win for Hui.
I'm not sure what happened in the Yep match, but she did not physically shake the umpire's hand after the match was over.
Also note: USD def Tex A&M the day before, but Tex A&M didn't play their No. 1 player.
Wasn’t Yepifanova up a break late in the third? If true, that has to qualify as somewhat of a choke. Kupres is good but someone she would handle comfortably.
Agree Blokhina is showing some game early on. All this with Yu on the bench keeping everyone on their toes.
Also does the Blake experiment at the top have a limited shelf life and are the topped Las 3 interchangeable?
The Card could go to #2 in the next rankings
man this is too easy.. Card claim the sandiego title... YoohooWasn’t Yepifanova up a break late in the third? If true, that has to qualify as somewhat of a choke. Kupres is good but someone she would handle comfortably.

What we've failed to mention is that how Card won the dubs point vs Tex A&M! HUUGGGEEE.
hahahaThat is called GREAT Coaching unlike the dallas cowboys
False rankings,, they are #1So just to confirm Stanford now up to #2 in today’s new rankings.
Actually nice to see Gellar get some court time tooThe Card dumped on the Aggies of Davis. All smooth sailing except for Blokhina who was taken to a third set super breaker. Good to see Yu and Houghton get a match with Blake and Hui rested
Looking forward to the lady Card making some noise in SEAThis is too easy at this point, so much gap between the Card and rest of the NCAA D1 division, it's like WTA tour pros vs amateurs

I believe they seed the Top 8 then the 9-16 is random draw.Draws not out yet for Indoors. But based on how I think the first round goes Stanford as number 2 ranked would play second lowest ranked team excluding PAC-12 ‘s.
I believe that is Auburn who is certainly challenging competition. They just beat Duke to qualify . Then they fired their coach the same day and removed her from their website. Must have been a major disagreement for that to happen….
Anyway, hope the Card does better than last year ! Hope also they are getting in some indoor practice before they leave.
And, in the victory over UCLA, Duke's No. 1 was leading the reigning NCAA Singles Champ Tian in their match which DNF. Definitely a tough draw.I believe that is Auburn who is certainly challenging competition. They just beat Duke to qualify .
