String for the DNX 8

Purchased the DNX 8, love the racquet. I had it strung it with KLIP Venom 17. Great string but didn't last a week. I thought about BB ALU power rough in the mains and KLIP Venom 19 ga. in the crosses. Anybody think this would play too harsh.

I think if you only got a week out of the Venom that using it as a cross with a Poly wouldnt be such a good idea. If you like the Klip family, try the Klip Scorcher (that would work well in that frame) or the Excellerator for a high end multi. I would also go down to a 16ga string in this frame.

Using poly in a frame with a 69 RDA, even with dampening technology, is a bold move in my opinion.

Try Prince Tournament Nylon 15L. It's the only string that lasted more than 10 - 12 hours for me in this frame. Wilson Synthetic Gut Extreme 16 & 15, Wilson Stamina 16, and Prince Synthetic Gut 16 all went quickly for me.

If you don't like the idea of Tournament Nylon, at least try moving down to 16 guage.

I strung my DNX8 with Yonex SuperTour850 ProSpin 16ga at 57lbs.

I like the way ALU plays, but it led to elbow twinges for me in the past. I might use ALU again in a hybrid, but I don't think I would use it in a DNX8.

No doubt the thin gauge string is not for this frame. I love the Klip string. I'll try something else in that brand for sure. I'm loving the DNX 8 but would like to try the 9 when it becomes available in the U.S.

Any USRSA string testers out there using the red poly-type 16 sent out in the last couple of weeks? I put it in the DNX 8 and have only hit once--not bad at the max tension(glad I haven't hit during our fortyish degree mornings of the last couple of days) but has the characteristic 'clank' at full power(string clank, not racket clank). Sure wish it were 17ga but the open pattern makes the 16 OK. So far the DNX 8 feels pretty good--not the classic '10' feel but that is to be expected. I'll add a DNX 10 to the mix later--no need to replace my T10m+ any time soon--not crazy about the 18 mains set-up of the DNX 10.

Just to jump in with my thoughts on matched rackets and identical specs...if I played under identical conditions each time I played AND I couldn't adjust to different 'feels', I would be more interested in developing a 'formula' for my racket specs. However, I've been test-playing rackets since my shop-managing days of the early 70s and frequently have at least 4 different sticks in my bag. I'll even bring out a Kennex Micro or aluminum Yonex 8500 from the old days--just for grins. Variety is the spice...

i had installed bde rally gut in dnx 8 at 55lbs, it only last for 4 hrs of playing.... now i installed klip legend 17g main and excellerator 17g cross at 55/57lbs, don't think it will last long either?
have tonic gut 15L in stock, also klip k-boom, x-1 biphase, which one do you think will last longer in this frame and still keeps the playability?
if by using poly in main is too stiff for dnx8, how about n gut in main and poly in cross?

I would go for tonic and biphase for the best feel...you'll break the crosses before the mains I would think...should play great.

I was impressed with the DNX 8, but would agree that an all-poly string job does not seem to work well on this racket. I would try ALU rough on the mains (strung 3-5 lbs looser) and TNT 16 on the crosses. If it's not strung too tight, it's a nice blend with good durability and good feel.

BTW, I have tried the red poly string that was mentioned earlier and am very impressed with it so far.

My suggestion is NOT to string a hard poly (e.g. Signum Pro Poly Plasma, Pacific Force, Tecnifibre Pro RedCode), but a Soft Poly in the mains with "unmushy" Multifilament string in the crosses.

Multifilament strings which doesn't passed:
Head Rip Control 16
Pacific Space Power TX (better, but too expensive)

Better:
Volkl Power Fiber II 18 (nice & crisp)

On my high school tennis team, we have a lot of heavy hitters which is why as soon as the coach is done stringing one racket, another three is thrown at him. One of the more economic strings that lasts relatively long and plays decently is the Prince Lightning XX. I've strung with both the 17 gauge and the 16 gauge, and I can't say that I can notice a huge difference, in fact, any difference at all is probably coming from what I hear from other plays on the board, rather than what I experience myself.

It's not a very expensive string, it's a synthetic gut I believe. The Prince Lightning XX is a decent string if you're breaking strings too often.
