String recommendation for Wilson Blade 98 V7 16x19

Hi I just purchased a the new blade 16x19. This racket is super plush and I played a demo with Wilson NXT 16g in it and it felt good but am looking for a string that may have more control. I am dealing with some slight golfers elbow.

What would you guys recommend for good blend of control and spin while still arm friendly? I never have done a hybrid string either. I have my own stringer so I can test some different variations.

Well, since you refer to control and spin, my mind automatically lands to poly strings. So, you need a soft co-poly, which, in addition shouldn't be strung high. In that category, I am familiar with signum pro x-perience and t1 ghostwire. Very arm friendly polys, with the first one being shaped and elastic and the second one being round and slick.

Polys string will make your elbow worse. It is best that you stick with either Multifilaments like NxT but the correct solution is to go with Natural Gut.

I have Wilson NXT Comfort and just purchased a batch of Prince Premier Control strings. I'm thinking of staying away from Poly's but I do have a pack of Volkl Cyclone that I also may try.

Was just wondering if someone who is currently using the Blade V7 has a good recommendation for string that has worked for them. Thanks.

Gut mains 16g Klip with a syngut/or thin poly cross. Based on the pattern of the racket a 16G gut with a thinner 17g or less cross would be arm friendly, spin friendly, and powerful. I personally have used Gut with 20g tourbite and it's plenty plush and has good spin potential with the really thin string not providing a lot of friction despite it's shape.

Edit: Think of the strings as an investment in both your health and your game. You can get the strings from TW for about $35-40 all in. Then get them strung in or do it yourself. Realistically depending on level, the longevity of the gut and it's playability may save you money.

Still looking for any advice? Just strung up full bed of Volkl Cyclone orange and although I love the insane spin I'm getting it does feel rather harsh on my wrist and worried it may aggravate my elbow.
I have some Hyper G string and plenty of NXT Comfort and Prince Premier Control strings. Wondering if a hybrid of some sort would work better?. Thanks for any advice.

Maybe try a soft poly, possibly tour bite soft, or blend the regular version with a multi in the crosses such as nxt.

If you liked the NXT then you can just increase the tension (most demo rackets are strung at mid tension) to get more control and 90 percent of your spin is what you create and not the string.

I think the string is still a huge component of spin. I just hit with a poly string and was getting massive spin and didn't change my form.

I got two of the V7 Blade's (16x19) back in June. I've been stringing them with poly in the mains (I've used Luxilon Alu and Solinco Tour Bite Rough) and synthetic gut in the crosses (Kirschbaum reel or NXT). Might switch mains and crosses to see how that feels. String them @ 54 lbs. The combo has been working well for me. I hit at least 3 hours a week and each racquet lasts about 3-4 weeks.

In the past, I strung my old Blade's with all poly; started with Luxilon in juniors then moved onto RPM Blast when I was playing college ball. I decided to go with the poly/gut mix after I graduated and stopped playing competitively. Don't need as much power and spin anymore. The hybrid combo gives me much better feel and control of the ball while still getting the pop/power/spin I need.

Given your elbow woes, I'd go with gut or a hybrid mix. I've heard good things about Tecnifibre X-One Biphase. Seeing some folks suggest soft poly's -- can't say I've tried them but with your elbow, I'd tread lightly

I just cut out the full bed of cyclone and strung it up last night with NXT Comfort at 55 pounds in the main and Weis Cannon Silverstring at 52 pounds in crosses. Playing tonight so I'm anxious to see how it plays.

I played with the new Blade 98 16 x 19 v7 with Gosen OG Sheep Micro at 54/55lbs and there was a nice balance of power and control. The racquet does go through strings but with my sensitive shoulder I no longer play with poly. It’s one of the best inexpensive synthetic strings on the market.

The NXT / Silverstring hybrid set up was the ****! Buttery feel with loads of top spin. I just played the best sets I've played in 15 years. I'm finally done with my search!

I love multi/poly hybrid too! Glad to see another one join the club!

Anyone else think that a gut/poly hybrid is too muted on this racket?

Thinking to go crisp powerful poly for more feel but afraid of elbow issues.

try silver 7 tour...it is soft powerful spin monster. I like to use it in mains with signum pro poly plasma 17L crosses which provides even softer feel. What gut have u tried? Maybe use a firmer gut like Klip pro armour or luxilon with a crisp poly like max power rough 18g crosses.

Mine is currently strung with Volkl VTorque Tour in the mains and Ashaway Monogut ZX Pro in the crosses. This setup is comfortable and durable and gets excellent spin. One of my other favorite setups in natural gut in the mains and red code in the crosses if I am playing enough with a frame to make it worth the cost. That setup is very comfortable but has some extra control from the poly crosses. These setups may have too much power for a high power frame like a Pure Drive but work well in frames like the Blade.

I prefer something a bit on the harsher side for more feedback on this racquet. However string lower than you normally would on this 16x19 racquet. It is a tighter pattern and needs to be treated as such in my experience.

Could someone recommend String(s) for the same racquet (Blade 98 v7 16x19) for loads of spin and control. I'm open to full poly or hybrid

I'd look into some of the softer polyester strings such as Tourna BHB7, Wilson Revolve, etc. My other advice is to lower the tension a tad bit than what you're used to.
Tennis Warehouse has a great number of playtests done on strings that also have comfort scores. You can look onto those if you want.

I’ve used Lux Alu Power Soft in the low 50s in a few diff rackets and been amazing at how comfortable and plush it plays in each racket!

I used wilson sensation 17g. It gave good comfort for my shoulder pain and no complaints abouts its power/control and spin. Spin might not be as precise as poly..but definitely should try multifilament..

I’m having the same impression: this frame is so soft that even Alu feels like a softer copoly. I actually bought a set of 4G to see how it goes...

To be honest of you are suffering a tennis elbow I would not suggest to try the poly string route until you fully healed that injury. I tested a nice alternative with the Head Velocity MLT, whichs offers a soft controlled feel. I Would start stringing it at 23/22kg tension.
Greetings!

Once you have tennis elbow the likelihood of a repeat injury is exponentially greater. If you aren’t making a living playing competitive tennis poly is NOT your friend. I play a full bed of VS in my blade 16x19 V7 at 50Lbs. Great combination of comfort, spin and control. It is also cheaper and more fun than physical therapy!

The more I look at strings the more I come back to Solinco TourBite 18. Spin, Power, Control and durability. I've never had an arm or write issue.

Right now I'm obsessed with Hyper G. Loads of spin with great control. And like the green color. No issues at all with elbow or wrist.

Has anyone tried signum pro x-perience on the blade? I wonder if the softness of the string would make the contact feel too mushy. I only tried cyclone mains + revolve crosses which was great for the first two weeks, then it started to go dead and put more strain on my shoulders. My usual go-to strings are YPTP and Ice Code, but I just have two sets of x-perience that I had bought when they were half-priced and thought they might work well on the blade.

Sorry to drag up such an old thread but what thickness were the strings?

tried signum XP in v7 blade…not good at all. The muted nature of the v7 blade combined with the muted feel XP is just too much…setup gave me absolutely no feel whatsoever. I loved HG 1.25/GW 1.22 combo but it started to hurt my arm after I played a lot. Signum Pro Firestorm also played quite nicely but the heaviness of the string combined with the beefy swingweight of the v7 blade made my arm tired. Did NOT like HGS at all in this stick either because of the super muted feel of the string. Tried Xcel 1.30/firestorm 1.25 and prince premier touch 15L/firestorm 1.25 but hard to get sufficient spin and control with these multis :-/ Strung up triax 1.27/poly tour air 1.25 and felt much too harsh.
