Strings to stock?

Hi,

Just starting a stringing business in my local area and would like to buy a few sets of strings to get started.

Which types of strings would you recommend I get to start?
I currently have a half a reel of really cheap synthetic gut and was planning on possibly getting a reel of Prince synthetic - duraflex.

Thanks for any ideas.

These are the most demanding from my customers:
A decent poly string - Pro Line II, Big Ace, Cyberblue, SSPP, etc..
A decent multi - Head RIP Control, Multifeel, Maxim Touch, etc...
A decent synthetic - duraflex, Gosen Sheep, etc..

Topspin Cyberflash and Cyberblue are good poly string to stock up on. Lux Alu is always a favorite for experienced players. Make sure to have two sets of those.

+1 for the OG Sheep. There is always Golden Set.

What strings you carry depend of your clientele.

Thanks for the replies.
The Gosen OG sheep seems like a must. I will most likely get a set of most of the recommended, will stick with big names to start I think.

Will be stringing with the Pro's Pro Pilot, at my house and because the only other stringer around charges double what I do and I would like to make some money whilst I am there!

Not every body trusts gosen because either they have never heard of it or because its made in china i would go with the safe bet and get the most popular string in the World Price sythetic gut with duraflex. But have at least 3 different types of string tw has technifibre e-matrix on sale for 4.99 a cheap multi i think or its a polyester. Is the machine the eagnas challenger I.

you should try to get some Luxilon or Babolat polys, if you get higher level players they will want higer quality strings, also look into tecnifibre, their polys and multifilament strings are good, you just need a decent selection of strings for all levels of play, make sure that your quantities are based on your sales as well. like said above, synthetic gut w/ duraflex is one of the most popular syn guts, and in lots of places when people ask for syn gut they think of prince syn gut w/ duraflex and thats what they expect to get.

Tecnifibre is good an known but luxillion alu is like i think number 3 most popular bought string in the world i would only carry that one luxillion string but lots of people swear by babolat sythetic. Babolat pro hurricane you can get legitament $119 a reel on the bay instead of $219 on tw.

Will defiantly get a reel of duraflex when I get the dough.
Only looking to buy about 5-8 sets to start as I don't have allot of money to use at the moment and I only have a few customers so far.

I was thinking
Set of duraflex 16
Set of Head Intellistring (Very popular round here for some reason?)
Set of Alu Power
Set of Multifeel
Set of Pro Hurricane or RPM Blast
Set of some type of Wilson String (just got a trade account with them)

What do you think of this selection to start?

This is my machine, quite similar to a Eagnas Combo 810 I think?

For the stringing machine, I recommend that you buy a crank machine from mutualpower.net. Then buy the head wise head tensioner add on from tenniwarehouse and you have a electronic stringing machine thats one level below the babolat star 3. I have the machine and in my city it's better than all the stringing machines that the clubs have. It's a great investment if you have the money and more customers will let you string their rackets if they see you have a electronic machine. Also the wise head tensioner has both constant and lock out pull. I really want to open my own tennis shop, but the economy is still bad.

For the synthetic gut, I recommend buying a reel of Pro Supex synthetic Titan. It's like a mixture of prince topspin and prince durafelx. Very good string for cheap.

Thanks for the info, already bought this machine and don't have any more money to spend on it. Though I would like a wise 2086 tension system.

Live in the UK. Multifeel is tecnifibre.
NXT seems like a good choice from wilson. I can get wilson goods cheaper than tennis warehouse, got a trade account with them.

You're an idiot. Gosen is one of the most trusted and well known brands with one of the best synthetic guts available...

I had never heard of it before this thread, not very well known in the UK at all. I haven't seen being sold anywhere in the UK.

@Doubles: Gosen is a well know brand amongst stringers and players who take an real interest in their strings. It isn't a well know brand amongst lay people so to call somebody an idiot for suggesting so is poor on your part.

The average player will want a name they have heard of, Wilson, Prince, Babolat etc - I string a lot of RAB Texflex because it's an awesome string and great value but I have had to do a lot of educating of my customers.

@Tomp: Gosen is available from string3rsworld but I suggest you have a look at RAB as they offer some really high quality strings at good prices - especially if you get an account with them.
