Takeback on serve question

It's not so bad, not nearly as bad as her pre prep positioning that mimicks the followthru.
Her face to sky is a moving position, part of her loop swing.
She's tiny, and things change when she grows into her racket.
Her serve is much better than yours. Now you've moved on to talking about other kids making fun of the prep position? Move along sir, you're no longer needed here.

Thanks again for all the help. I understand the majority of the points raised. Communicating it to an eight year old is another thing entirely I'm learning. I'll keep it simple and do what I did with her forehand. Proper grip. Stay totally relaxed. See your shot. Hit as fast as you can. She's absolutely crushing the ball at about a 50% in rate. Maybe this just all sorts itself out.

And keep looking for a serve guru in Pittsburgh. :).

Good luck. She's well on her way to a GREAT serve. No need to over-complicate with laws of physics, angles and graphs.
