The 100 pushup challenge

I know but I'd rather do curls or something because I know that is working something like the bicep which I use a bit more. I'm not saying that if you're able to do 100 push-ups that you will have man boobs. I'm saying if you keep doing it then you will get man boobs.

you are very incorrect in your thinking.

Ok, man but I've worked out before so I'm not an amateur. I'm just saying that if you do a lot of push-ups as a workout, then you will get man-boobs. I'm not saying they will be huge but they might get in the way when you are playing tennis. Look at Nadal: He doesn't have man-boobs (well big ones anyway). I'm not trying to pick a fight but go do some research man. Doing pushups is an upper body workout.

if you had man boobs, you wouldn't have to go down as far during the push-up, as a little added incentive

he reminds of going to the gym and seeing all the curl monkeys hanging out around the squat rack doing 10 sets of biceps for an hour.

the guy is ripped. but thats bodybuilding. hes trying to get definition in his muscles. big biceps never really impressed me. they dont always equal strength. you see guys in the gym all the time with huge arms and chicken legs.

yeah, the turdburglars at PF are usually curling 55-70lb's dumbells, but they use their whole body to throw the dumbell to the peak. I curl completely still, straight posture, all arm... 30-35-40lb's.

I do drag curls, i dunno about rolling out a mat and lying on the floor to do curls, although it probably is effective.

No Mav, he clearly has man boobs from all the pushups he's done.

i dont wanna hijack this thread anymore than we have but seriously that kid made me laugh. go do some research push ups are upperbody exercises and that equals man boobs. because bicep curls are the foundation of upper body strength?

My buddy went to do squats, and there was a guy doing curls in the squat rack.

My buddy promptly told him "GET OFF MY OBSTACLE!"

I don't know which is funnier though, people that are lunging their whole bodies to get up a 50 pound arm curl...yet can't do a single pull up. Or the guys that arch their backs to the moon to get up 185...yet can't do 20 pushups.

I am so happy our work put in a gym. A crowded day at our gym is 3 people. I can get my workout done in 45 minutes leaving 15 minutes of HIIT each time. We have everything I need to do my workout and even a pullup rack...(so I don't hawg the squat rack for pullups).

My pushup challenge got delayed with some unexpected news recently. As of today though it's all resolved. I will post my results tomorrow!

Now all we need is a 100 dip and 100 pull up challenge and my spindly arms will have some meat on them.

i used to train with a group of guys that would tie weights to there midsection and do them for high reps. i felt like such a weakling next to them.

this hundred pushup challenge has energized me. I'm doing the 200 squat and 200 situp challenge at the same time too. After only 3 workouts I'm already seeing a difference in the mirror and feel strong. The Mrs. says "you feel buff". I thought I was in half way decent shape but was kidding myself. This stuff is great because I can do my workout while watching my new twin babies...

Ouch! I know the marines do training that includes doing pull-ups with weights attached to them. I believe they do it in teh Army, and in the SEAL training as well.

not interested....I know a really hot actress and model. She needs surgery on her shoulders from too many push ups. I can do 20+ pull ups but have hurt myself doing both pushes and pulls. One things for sure, in a few weeks push ups temporarily improve the look of a mans physique (but you must maintain or do 1,000+ a day, once a week, to effect permanent change). In boxing we have kids do explosive push ups to produce snap. I bet that fewer pro atheletes do push ups than the weekend warriors on these boards. The pro tennis players and championship and journeyman pro kickboxers and boxers I train with did them as kids and don't need any more of that type of strength...
as a trainer and ptr certified pro I reccomend learning perfect form, stretching, and proper footwork. These produce less injuries, conform to wise and safe ancient principles of physical development...

I tried this two years ago. It was the straw that broke the camel's back regarding some rotator problems I was having with my right shoulder, and it was 18 months before I could serve again.

Just sayin'.
