^ video illustrates at how Francesca Schiavone tries to hit a Federer-esque tweener. Fail. Nowhere near the amount of pace or placement.

^ video illustrates Gonzalez hitting a tweener. No. Nowhere near as good as Federer, with almost no pace or placement. wouldnt have gotten it over had it not been for that lucky netcord.

^ only shot that can rival Federer at this point, and im pretty sure he did not mean to lob it. he'd need to do it again for me to really believe that it wasnt a fluke. something that federer has done.

the federer tweeners:

both are exactly the same placement, imo the dabul one is better.

How 'bout no, Fed's tweeners weren't all that. I like that one sliding forehand he hit against Nalbandian on clay better. Also Monfils hit a shot that was twice as awesome.

And Gonzo's would have been just as good if it didn't hit the cord.

How 'bout no, Fed's tweeners weren't all that. I like that one sliding backhand he hit against Nalbandian on clay better. Also Monfils hit a shot that was twice as awesome.

not at all, gonzos shot was MUCH slower.

I can't believe some of you guys. You'd take away anything from Federer simply because it's... well Federer and you think he gets enough praise as it is.

I say to you: be objective!

What Federer's amazing tweeners have that others may not:

1) Insane pace. Speed of the ball off the tweeners is remarkable.

2) Placement. I've seen many tweeners. Sure. The majority of tweeners attempted by pros are either a) just hit back into court to prolong the rally or b) dumped into the net or c) easy volley for the opponent. Rarely do you see clean winners into corners off tweeners.

3) Stage. Both of these tweeners (clean winners on top of it) were hit at a Grand Slam. The biggest of stages.

4) Form/Technique/Aesthetics. If you watch both Federer tweeners, you'll see how he doesn't raise his leg up like you see in some other videos. Roger's form is needless to say... impeccable.

5) Consistency. This one is completely underrated. Federer attempted two tweeners since last year's US Open. Both were flawless winners. That's a 2/2 on tweeners in one year's time. You would think that for a stroke that is so rarely needed and used in pro matches, a pro would fail at them more often than not. I'm sure Fed has missed a tweener here and there in his career... but he's 2/2 since the previous year.

It's one of those... "yeah, you did it once... but can you do it AGAIN?" moments. Federer did it again, clean winner, crazy pace/placement and in a Slam. Twice. Back to back years.

And yeah... of course, Federer is Federer. So because he does this, it just verifies his greatness in another way. A lot of you out there don't like that. Deal with it.

surprised it wasnt posted earlier

Very good tweener from Gasquet.

Things it lacks that Federer's have:

a) Pace is medium.. look at where the second bounce lands. Not as much pace as Roger's.

b) Gasquet has to lift his leg slightly to get clean contact on the ball... but only slightly. Still Federer's form was better on both of his.

c) This was at a non-Slam event.

All in all it's a great tweener though as it was a clean winner.
