Terrific match Anderson and Djoker. When you see how Djoker reacts to bullets coming at him on serve return and the defense he can bring it’s unbelievable when you see it live. He won some points he had zero right to win o_O However he was very uncomfortable in doubles and clearly a weak link. Such a difference in his quality from singles to doubles. Fed is just a delight to see with that sublime touch on the court. They had these glass cubes setup in the parking lot for temporary courts so you could watch players practice. Watched a session of Dimitrov and Goffin that was lots of fun.

Never seen Novak play doubles before - clearly a learning experience for him - especially the fast ball he took to the heart instead of volleying it; and when he tagged Fed from behind! Also Fed v Nick was good - lots of creativity but also had a man v youth feel to it at times. There was some vintage Johnny Mac too.

He played doubles with Nenad Zimonjic in Davis Cup as well as on ATP Tour so he has experience. He’s just not that good at doubles, apparently.

Especially when playing against people that are quite good at doubles or play a lot more of it. The strategies and ball placements are very different after all.

My V3 TC97 18x20 is shipping! So far, really enjoying my TC95s but glad I’m in a position to compare the two with some extended play

The TC97 is an exceptional frame, regret selling mine after I moved back to 18x20 patterns. The feel of it is really nice but plays a bit club-like compared to my 90's / 93P. More like the RF97 and its just as punishing across all areas on the court. Its my second favourite Angell I tried after the 90 and I am sure you will love it :)

He was good but we are used to seeing him dominate in singles and he looked to me like he hadn’t quite figured out how he could do it at doubles yet. Mind you he was facing an on-form Anderson and a year or so ago I thought similar when I watched Sock and now he’s improved a lot and is a multiple grand slam doubles champion. Either way it’s just great to see these top single guys playing doubles. Laver Cup is great! Jealous of those seeing it live!

Of course yes. Laver Cup is good, I was in Prague a year ago and witnessed Roger and Rafa team up. Didn't care for all the marketing but that's what Laver Cup is mostly about, I guess. Haven't seen a single point of this years edition, though...

I'm sure I have. Too many options, too little time...using what's left of summer for outdoor sports, not much time for telly afterwards.

Big difference between the TC95 v2 and v3 anyone?

Consistency and a lower swing weight due to the layup. Some people have confirmed they feel slightly different as would be expected with any change. However, they seem to be interchangeable and very similar overall :) Still sad that they chose to make the TC90 a 70RA in the V3...

TC 90 V3 is a sweet stick.
I played a TC95 63 ra for 6 months, and I have lower ra racquets in my collection as well (including a blacked out pro stock Pro Staff 90 the measures out at 54 ra)
They sit unused.

I felt a bit too much firmness with the TC90 V2 70RA so had to get rid of it. It was great when I had full gut in it though. I dont feel like gambling another $350AUD on something that is likely to have the same effect. I use the Prince 93P now and the feel and comfort is sublime

This is when I was using the TC90, it was a great frame, the best angell by far imo and only surpassed by the 93P of the frames that I have used. Still the best serving frame I have ever used.

Thanks! So many lefties at my club though haha Unfortunately I gave up my angells, the one I liked the most I couldnt risk using. They are great frames and great to play with but I am loving a thin beam 18x20 in a smaller head.

I was so lazy in that video as well, girlfriend at that stage was only playing a couple months and now she has had an extended break so hopefully get her going again soon

No worries amongst tennis geeks ;) I just got my TC97 18x20 and did a little thinking about string to start out with. I just hit last night with BZ on a TC95 and it is certainly more comfortable then hyper-g. Pretty decent topspin just doesn’t grab the ball like hyper-g does and give big kick off the bounce. A strings ability to impart spin is two components and i don’t know what is the perfect balance. Ability to snap back and grab on the ball. In a closed pattern, were space is smaller, snap back becomes less of a factor and grab on the ball becomes more important. So in topspn theory of topspin :D my TC95s and 97 need a shaped string more then a round slippery string. I will be hitting more with BZ in TC95 but i chose Revolution 1.25mm @45 lbs for first string job of the TC97. Great grab on the ball, less springy but still decent comfort (at least i hope) to match up well with more flexy hoop. That is the theory anyway so will see how it works on the court.

Looking forward to hearing how it goes... I was thinking of putting in Volkl Cyclone 18L or Volkl Cyclone Tour 18 in the Mains and BZ in the crosses for my next re-string of the TC97 18x20. That way the shaped string is in the mains and imparts spin, while the smooth BZ lets it glide and still has an ok spin potential rating itself. Hopefully, the grommets don't split, although my stringer should be good since he strings for the Pros when they come to town. I was thinking of Solinco Revolution myself, but don't know if it's too "sharp" for the Angell grommets, so looking forward to your thoughts and experiences.

I’ve not tried this in an Angell yet. But in another thread someone mentioned they used Cyclone 18L mains with Poly Tour Fire crosses. I’ve put that hybrid in another racket and so far I’m really liking it.

Co.Focus will be softer than HEX. Phenomenal that being rounded it has same spin and even better control for me.
Let us know your opinion when you will try it. :)
Yesterday I played with a freshly strung Head RIP Control 18 / MSV Co Focus 1.18mm stringbed and it felt great. Feels very much like the Focus Hex 1.10mm. No wonder as it is actually the rounded version and made of the same materials. It grabs the ball a little less than the Focus Hex but the feel is a little more comfortable.

Has anyone tried TC95 (63ra) in quite light 300g package? I'm happy with my TC100 63ra 300g, but want to try another popular frame as well. However, I'm not sure if it needs to be heaver in order get maximum from it.

Did anyone end up getting the pu grip thickness on V2 Angells? @haqq777 I know you measured 13gr trimmed, but did you end up getting some caliper readings on the thickness ?

Go heavier than 300g for the 95 if you're on 300g for the 100.

The 95 swings faster than the 100.

Hey my friend, I'm sorry but I did not measure the thickness myself. I will trust Topspn's judgment on that one. Cheers

I moved to L4 with leather and its perfect

Yeah I have been using 2 o.g's of late and feels good, but weight and balance moves. Should've used the lighter o.g's like 3gr instead of 2 x 6gr. Next V3 order will be L4

Trusted for sure! haha coming direct from Paul, even better ;-)

I've been reading some of this thread and have seen some of the concerns about the grip. I use an L3 so if I order an Angell should I go higher or would the Angell L3 be fine?

topspn

I never play without an overgrip. That being said, L4 is still the way to go?
I am 5’ 11” and i don’t have large hands or anything. I play the Angell L4 pallet with leather and a super grap OG. It is perfect and an L3 with same setup was a bit small for me and caused some racquet twist.

In 353 pages I am sure these questions I have were answered and I tried searching but couldnt find the answers so sorry ahead of time.....

What are the beams of the 95 and 97 most like? Box beams, oval, etc.....

Which is the most spin friendly of the 95 and 97, and those with plus length racquets how does that effect the playing characteristics?

K7 what are some of your impressions of the racquet as far as spin production and playing characteristics.

Sorry for asking but thank you to any of those who want to answer. I personally have the K7 got a good deal for them and I like them but something feels a little off about them and I cant put my finger on it. I am super interested in getting a plug length custom 95 or 97 made but I like a more boxish beam.....

TC95 and TC100 have a D beam design that is very uniform in flex. The TC97 is a box beam design with a bit more flex in the head. The TC95 will hit heavier spin and a bit more dictating power. The TC97 has a less of a launch angle and not as disposed to very heavy spin and power. I haven’t played any extended length Angells.

Played a bit of mixed doubles yesterday which isn’t too competitive but first time i try my TC97. The flex difference between the TC95 and TC97 is very obvious. TC97 does translate to a more flexy feel with poly at the same tension 45lbs. It also felt more whippy then the TC95 although at same specs. Will take it out today for some singles and a better assessment.

Awesome. Are your specs same as always (310/315)? Definitely agree, completely different flex and feedback on ball contact. Are you liking the more head flex or no?

My specs for TC95s and 97 are 320g/310. My TC97 strung up and with OG comes out to 346g/318. I am certainly more used to the flex of the TC95 so easier for me to pick up the 18x20 and be able to hit effectively. Overall, the head flex made the 97 string bed feel a bit more lively which was fine but took me a bit to get the feel for it. Volleys were no problem and felt pretty well connected with good put away weight. On serve, a more flat serve worked well but i had a bit of trouble with kick serves launching on me at times. I switched to a more spin 2nd serve till i could figure out how to adjust my kick serves. Couldn’t hit this morning as overnight rain left the courts to wet to be playable. I should be able to play tomorrow after work and get a better feel in singles play. I do have to adjust more to the TC97 so will play with it exclusively for a couple of weeks to truly give it a thorough look.

Gotchya. For some reason I had it in my head that you played 310/315 with your previous TC95, the 16x19 version. My bad. Yeah, I definitely see what you are saying. Look forward to hearing your feedback once you have more hit-time under your belt with the TC97.
