Played doubles tonight, started off with my 95 strung with yellow Volkl Cyclone @48 lbs.
Absolutely hated it! It played much differently than the black color imo.

Buying sets of RS Lyon, Black Knight and Hyper-G to try out soon. YPTSG is an awesome string in the 95. I’ve played a full singles & doubles match with it... still plays incredible. Any other options I should seriously consider?

String Project Magic, I wrote about it a couple of weeks ago, if you're in Europe give them a try (getting a single set to US can be expensive tho).

K7 vs TC95 @ same specs

For those who've had the privilege of playing with both, do you perceive a tangible difference between a K7 and a TC95 (16x19) at similar weight, balance specs ?

I’ve not tried the K7, but I don’t believe I need to have to tell you that the TC95 has a significantly higher launch angle & more power on tap than the K7. Just hits a harder ball - specifically on serves, even with the exact same specs.

I've had both. But I found the tc95 16x19 63ra more complete. The tc95 has more power, spin and provides a more aggressive game. Only thing the K7 wins is in comfort that is a bit superior.

I have both and love the 95. I have tried to like the K7, but just never gotten into the groove with it. Still trying to find a string that may change my experience.

I also tried to find the rhythm with the K7 for a few months, but I could not. The tc95 V3, was a good evolution. He improved what was already good.

I have been playing with TC95, 63 ra for more than a year now and really like it and I have 3 of them. I have a chance to buy TC95 v1 with the same specs, 320g, 305 balance. Any changes between v1 and v2 TC95?

Has anyone tried Technifibre Black Code in TC100?
Simply not sure if it is worth to try.
I tried Black Code 4S. It wasn't bad but in 1.2 gauge and died quickly.

If you look for something new to try I would suggest isospeed blackfire/cream hybrid. Cream is not so durable as other strings (including blackfire) but with such hybrid I can play until it breaks. With other strings I had to cut off in two weeks because of losing snapback. I string it using sergetti at 21.4 reference tension.

Usually take time to get a long with the feel of a flexier racket, what you didnt like exactly? How was it in terms of control, stability, Maneuverability and power? I suppose it serves decent

I simply found a half of reel in my garage. No clue who left it there. Considering to try it. :)

I definitely don't think the K7 is flexier than my 63RA 95. It's a different flex and the racquet itself is much more muted.

do you feel any difference in maneuverability ? In theory there shouldn't be as the specs are the same.
The two rackets have the same string , lbs, grip, overgrip and dampener. I felt that V3 got a bit worse on my backhand, but improved my forehand. But in both cases in a very superficial way. What I really felt was an improvement in stability.

I've got a DR98 and played with a Prince Phantom 100 for a while. For me, the K7 has a similar flex to the Phantom (more than the DR98) but feels less muted than either of them.

I also have a DR 98 which i like in general, a tc97 16/19 on its way to see if I like better and i also want to test k7 because flex is Very important to me because of shoulder injuries, do you like the k7 more than the DR98? Hows the power? Something between the Phantom and the dr?

I like the DR98 but much prefer the K7 - better feel, spin and stability for me. Been a while since I've hit the K7 or Yonex in stock form but I'd say DR98 > K7 > Phantom in terms of power.

+1. Agree. Played DR for 2 years. Im trying to get going with K7 now. It needs lead to add power. I have now 4g split between 3 and 9. It helped a bit. But it is not close to my 70ra 95. But added comfort and forgivness. So I will give it a chance an play more. It is more comfy than DR.

I much prefer lead at 12 (I have 4g there) on the K7, really didn’t like it at 3/9, made it feel a bit too cumbersome and I don’t think it really needs any additional twist weight.

I will play a while with tc97 and if I prefer more arm friendly racket i ll try k7 and see how it goes, comfort is my main priority lets see what my arm think about tc97

Nice, mine is almost the same, only balance is 315, so still trying to work that out,.. Probably will replace base grip with leather one to make it more HL.
Regarding your arm issues- Try some softer poly, even lower your tension a bit.. That should do the trick. It will be soft on the arm..

Strung my 63ra TC100 with Technifibre Black Code 1.24. Used it once before in 70ra TC100 at 23,5 kg and cut it after 10 min. of play - it was stiff.
Now it was 21,5 kg in 63ra version. And I was surprised. It has more feel than Lyon/Scorpion/Silverstring and it feels more like 1.20 gauge, not a 1.24. Good control, good spin. Stiffness - something similar to Hyper-G 1.25. I assume that it will be one of my favourite strings. Negatives - it dies quite quickly, I know it as I tried it in other rackets earlier.

The TC97 is very comfortable...far more comfortable than my DR98s...don’t own the K7 though.
I own 2 TC100s 70RA and they are also significantly more comfortable than my DRs.

Remember that the strung RA comes down from 70 to about 65/66...being foam filled must also make a difference because these are unbelievably comfortable rackets.

Questions to fellows stringers on this thread : has anyone tried a box pattern on a 95? It seems to me that fits this racquet perfectly, because of the grommets setup, it could help avoid those annoying blocked holes and tie off at 11T without having a long run, I haven't tried yet, tho, any thoughts?

I'd like to ask for some help from Angell grip size experts. The grip size of my k7 is L3. I play it with wilson leather grip (was the thickest I could find - 1.9mm) and I put three yonex super graps over it to get to a size that suits me. (The first two overgrips are used (ie worn out a bit) and put on without overlap.) That's a bit too much and I'd be better off with size L4 for sure. But wonder if I should perhaps jump to L5? I suspect that three overgrips (although a bit worn) would probably be equal to two sizes up? Has anyone played with L5?

I recently bought a TC-100 V3 size L5. That suits me perfect. I used to play with a babolat pure drive L4 and it was a tad small. I would say that Angell's grip size is a bit smaller, i'd guess than L5 in Angell is like L4 1/2 in babolats.
I don't know if that helps you.

With 3 overgrips and a 1.9mm leather grip you're beyond even L5 size, Angell grips run a bit small (at least B shape do) so with L5 you'll have plenty of room to get to your size and still feel the bevels. Of course you'll have to check your setup, because you'll remove some weight from the handle (3 OG is like 18gr)

Any tips on keeping a consistent forehand with the 95 without having to swing out? I’ve noticed that when I really go for my shots and generate high RHS, the ball lands where I want it to, but during rallies & such when I just want to construct a point & move them around, I tend to overhit when not swinging as fast.

Should I pronounce my swing more? I know a part of the problem is me not swinging through which I’m working on currently with rally shots. Got another singles match tomorrow to get the kink worked out. Literally every single aspect of my game is better with this frame! Forehand still needs adjusting, but man this was the best decision I’ve made.

Thanks, yes the weight and balance is getting a bit out of control, hence the need to go up in size. Thanks for your inputs

FYI I think the k7 is only available up to size 4. Not tried k7 but the tc100 L5 and Tc97 L3 I have tried ran true to size, but the stock Angell pu grips they had were thin / squishy. Not tried leather though. Once I replaced it on the tc100 with a Babolat syntec and added an over grip it was about a size 6 (ie 4.75”). No issue with feeling the bevels either with that set up. Three supagrap overgrips would be about two - three sizes in my experience. I’ve used that option together with a Babolat syntec Pro to resize a Wilson blade size 2 to 5+.

Angell replacement grip runs 1.50-1.55 mm you can always replace that with thicker replacement grip like these

2.20mm ... Wilson Comfort Hybrid
2.20mm ... Pro's Pro Hyper Cushion
2.20mm ... Technifibre Conformax
2.20mm ... Technifibre Tackymax
2.20mm ... Technifibre Tec-Dry
2.20mm ... Prince ResiSoft

2.40mm ... Prince Durasoft
2.60mm ... Karakal X-gel

Wow..I had to move up on Angells to L4. You adding three OGs should translate to going up to L5 at least. The Angell PU grip is spec 1.8mm which is the one on the K7. You may want the L4 and exchange for a PU grip around 2.0mm then OG. Three OGs you probably have little feel of the bevels anymore

ah yes that's right - for k7 size 4 is as big as it gets
i think it's a sign that i need to complete my angell collection with either a tc95 or tc100 in size 5 :) think i will also prefer c shape which is not available for k7
adding heat sleeve - i don't i will be skilled enough to do a good job
thanks for all the suggestions

I got the TC95 V1 and liked it as well...but I felt V1 is very stable compared to my V2s. Configurations are the same except swing weight..I don’t know the sw of this v1 and my v2 has 300 unstrung SW. I am guessing it must be higher since I could feel the heaviness especially while serving but great stability on ground strokes especially my OHBH was on song. Now I have four tc95s...1 V1 and 3 v2s...all are 320g, 30.5 cm, 16x19, 63 ra...V2s has 300 unstrung sw...I just want to confirm as everyone else is saying as well that TC95 with 300+ sw feels great and just bosses the ball....I am curious to find out the sw of v1 now..

I have 3 Tc 95 16x19 63 RA, one of each version. The most stable version for me is V3. My V2 is V3 have 307 of swingweight unstrung. Version 1 can not say.
