The US Open is Open. Anybody going to try to qualify?

i'm trying the new england one, why not

"The entry fee for each Sectional Qualifying Tournament will be $125.00 plus a processing fee."

Still maybe worth it though. I would go and watch if our sectional tournament was anywhere near me.

Well now, I just might have a reason to get in shape and start taking tennis seriously. Hmmmm, hmmm, hmmmmm.......

If I thought I actually stood any kind of chance to make it then I would go for it. I seriously doubt it though, so no need to waste $125 on a pipe dream.

It's being held at my home courts for the USTA Southwest though so I'll definitely check out some of the matches.

If i still lived in the states, hell yeah i would do it!

I would suck pretty badly, but then again you never know unless you try.

I've already embarrassed my family enough. I was known as the little sob that burnt the church down, the ba***rd kid down the road that was responsible for breaking into all the trailers, and the weird man that keeps looking into everyones windows...I dang sure don't want to be remembered as the 'William Hung' of tennis!

I think they should do this every year. Never know what kind of player could pop up. Maybe someone with some serious talent

Not really worth doing unless youre a top 150-200 player or you just want a fun, yet expensive experience. Still, I might play my sectional tournament anyways, and even if I was playing well and won it Im not sure if I would play the national event.

If someone out there was really serious about wanting to turn pro and had the money, I could see this being a worthwhile experience with tournament play at a more national level than city tournaments and high school/college match and formats. Personally, as a college student, I don't have $125 to enter plus the $30 USTA membership. Plus I know I would stand very little chance of competing against others who I am sure take tennis way more seriously than I do. But I might look into to going to watch some of the matches both in Boston and Connecticut.

So Blake Strode won the sectional tourney out here for the men - so he'll move on to the national tourney for the wildcard. For those that don't know the name, he's ranked ~500 in the world.

You have to have ATP points to compete, right? Or is it just, I could sign my 7 year old brother up for $125?

You have to be a USTA member, & you can sign up just for the tournament & be @ least 14 years old.

top 150-200 would already be in US Open qualifying anyway.

Bode Miller ...

Bode Miller (gold medal US alpine skier) just tried to qualify in the western sectional/regional ... he lost 2 and 2 to someone I don't know ... I didn't realize that in HS Bode was a state champion (in tennis) ... evidently, a man of many talents!

Hey TL ... yeah, you should play ... we need someone from TW to enter (... a representative, so to speak) ... I'm serious ... let us know about your experience ... and of course ... the best of luck to you!
