tie off cross

Hi

Babolat recommends tie off knot for aeropro drive on crosses to be at 10th grommet

the problem is, as this is the 2nd cross and the grommet is so close to the mains, the knot "rubs" in the main and pulls it a little bit inside the frame,
and also is not very easy to tie the knot

im new to stringing, just strung 5 or 6 raquets since i bought the machine


can i tie it off in another grommet?? cause the 10th grommet has so little space beeteen grommet and main string.

does it damage the raquet tieing it off in another place? whats the disavantadge?

You can easily tie it off right where it is. Your anchor string is the next to last cross which need to go over the outside main as you see it in the picture. Tie your knot between the 7th and 8th mains which you tighten the knot it will slide right over the 8th main.

Is the main knot in the grommet? If you do a one piece you could tie of last cross there.

You want a tie off location where the anchor string passes through the grommet parallel to the grommet. The 7th and 8th main strings travel through the grommet from one side to the other making the bad choices for tie off locations. The other two lower mains 4th & 5the have the same issue so your best option will be a cross. You want the tie to be close to the last string to eliminate as much u tensioned string between the knot and the clamp as possible. Therefore Babolat chose grommet 10T for you. That grommet hole is enlarged to allow the easy passage of two strings and therefore the hole in the frames is also enlarged to accept the larger grommet. Other cross grommet hole 11T and up have very narrow grommets. I guess you can stretch them out of shape but the will wear out and tear faster but I would not.

If you use an ATW pattern your last cross will be farther from the main tie off, you will have a longer string to work with, every other cross string may be a hard weave, and there are more ways to makes mistakes.

I would keep it simple, string two piece, use Parnell knots, and learn to tie off at the appropriate locations. If I had one of my rackets strung any the proper tie off locations were not use I would someplace else to have my rackets strung.

i will continue to do the tie off at the 10th grommet,( i prefer 2 piece stringing, easier for me) my main concern was the knot actually "rubbing" in the 8th main.. They make contact and consequence is the pushing a little bit of the 8th main into the inside of frame, you can see it in the picture. But i guess that is not a problem then right?

The pro knot is a good knot too. The knot touching the outside main is perfectly fine. Yes that's my YouTube channel (Mr10sStringer) glad you like it. I need to update a lot of the videos and organize it a lot better. I've been thinking about it for a long time just need to find me a circular tuit.
