Tie off mains

When I'm tying off my last main I have trouble getting the string on the outside of the racket tight to the frame and therefore when I tie the knot I loss a lot of tension.
How can this be avoided
( poly strings btw )

It's especially important that you:

1. Get your single hitch as tight as possible, by using a rocking motion as illustrated in the video
2. Pull the tail end of the finished knot tightly while releasing the machine clamp.

Irvin, are you using the Wilson pro knot on all your stringing jobs with the exception of enlarge grommets?
So many freaking options for knots.

I had problems with the cross knots not the main ones. The video here is helpful. I would like to be consistent with what knots to use on my Aeropro racquets.

I am presently using the Parnell knot exclusively. If a knot has a tendency to pull into the grommet replace the grommet or use a Parnell w/dead man's knot.

Certain knots in my opinion are easier to "cinch up". Also which hole are you tying off the mains? On the Pro Staff 95S. I recommend tying off the mains at 7T (on the 2nd to last outside main). The hole is already enlarged and it minimized blocked holes and the distance from the last outside main to the tie off. That could help with your tension loss issue along with the other good suggestions already made in this thread. Personally I find the Parnell knots to be great for getting nice and tight no matter the string. They also seem to do a minimal amount of damage to the grommets.

exactly where I was going when I asked which racket. Take for instance a Babolat frame that skips 8 H&T. If you string mains 1-8 and tie off at 6T then you have a non tensioned length of string going from the clamp on the 8th main to the knot @ 6T where all that slack needs to be pulled out. If you string 1-6 mains, then the 8th, and finish with the 7th main the distance from the clamp to knot is shorter and you have less slack. That's the benefit of the Yonex loop and it uses the exact same length of string.
