Has anybody tried using the tourna big hitter silver 7 tour in a pure aero 2019? How is the spin? Control?

Yes, the 17g is great in the Pure Aero at 55lbs. Very high spin and control. Only issues are that it breaks very easily on hits close to the frame and it's extremely jarring on the arm off-center, which is weird because it feels crisp and comfortable when you hit in the sweet spot.

55 lbs seems very high for a string that does not lose tension.

The PA is a powerful racquet. The string is quite thin and due to the shape has a very high launch angle. I tried at 47lbs and it was impossible to keep in the court consistently.

I'd be curious to see how many people vary tension by 8 lbs at a time. In my own experiments, I usually go only 2 lbs, max 3. There's a big difference between 52 and 47.

I went gradually all the way down to 47lbs. The only difference was really higher launch angle/depth with every tension drop. Comfort was the same.

I have played the string and found it to be very firm and held tension great. I strung my 16 x 19 102 head size at 52 / 50 which was too firm. The bed gets a bit softer but never really get launchy per say. I strung one Pure Drive and one Aero Pro Drive for others and went 50 / 48 with their approval and my experience and they loved the way it played. Of course they have 17 and 16 year old arms. It is can be quite firm. I am planning to use it in the spring but to hybrid it with a soft slick poly in the crosses. Maybe drop to 48 /46.

I use the 17g version in my APD+ 2013 @45 lbs. For me it has plenty of control even at that tension. I also found it surprisingly plush given it's stiffness. I've not tried 16g.

I am curious for 16g for durability and playability. It does look stiff on paper but so did rpm blast and it was fine (the first couple of hours). @galapagos did give his stamp of approval in a smaller head racquet. Surprised most pick the 17g in the pure aero but I expected the comfort being an issue.

I just strung up a new VCore Pro 310 in the 16ga at 50lbs and with about 4hrs of hitting and play on it, I give it a thumbs up. Feels good, better than expected, and the spin and control is excellent. My other 310 is strung with Yonex Poly Tour Strike and I definitely prefer the Tourna set up. The Tourna string is pretty stiff in the lab by the measurements but it didn't feel overly stiff to me in play. I always try new strings at 50lbs to give me a constant for comparison purposes. I was anticipating that being too dead in the VCore but I have no complaints.

Tried Tourna Silver 7 Tour 16g in my open pattern 100 square inch racquet and loved it. Excellent crontrol, very predictable response, above average spin, great tension maintenance. Really allows you hit hard and still know where the ball is going.

Only drawback is that it tends to randomly snap on mishits close the frame. More so than similar strings. Given the very competitive price, it’s no big deal though.

Like others have said, it doesn’t feel as stiff as the numbers might suggest. Plays surprisingly soft when actually hitting balls. YMMV, of course. I guess thinner gauges would work better in denser string patterns.

I noticed 1.25 is also a lighter than average 1.25. I don't know for 1.30, probably miniscule difference.
I did test 1.25 in a Clash 1-2 years ago and it was a good confidence builder string. Meaning I could swing hard on the forehand and get my shots in. Higher launch angle than a round string for sure and more spin. I'm playing against higher level guys, heavier balls (and also sending them) with a pure aero, that's why I'm debating going up to 1.30. thanks for feedback.

That’s exactly why I went up to 1.30. Allowed me to play more consistently against heavier hitting guys.

Way better control. And has a plow-through sort of power to it, rather than the trampoline-like power thinner gauges tend to produce.
