while stringing atomos, it snapped on me twice while doing the crosses. never had that before. (first time it snapped, i just tried tying it off super far and continue stringing, and working with it, second time i just gave up and unweaved and tied the string from one-piece to two-piece) so ended up stringing a hybrid of atomos in the mains and head hawk touch 17 in the crosses.

that’s surprising I’ve never had issues stringing it. How high did you go in tension?

i gave atomos a try in the mains today with head hawk touch (red, 17g) in the crosses in the dunlop cx 200 tour 18 x 20. i know i shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but the string reminded me of babolat pro hurricane, even in the way it "frayed" a bit while stringing. personally i felt like i didn't get enough feel from the string as i'd like.

it's the only string from the brand besides black knight that i've tried.

I just tried Atomos 1.25 at 48lbs side by side to Black Knight 1.23 48lbs in my Whiteout 16x19s. I only played a set with each string, but I would say the Black Knight feels more geared to topspin strokes (easier to feel the pocketing and grip on the ball) whereas Atomos can hit lower launch flatter shots well, but still has the spin potential if you really swing out and trust it (with proper technique). Hard to say which I like better at this point but Atomos seems like it has a higher ceiling if I'm on my game. Will be curious to see how they play when they're more broken in though, as I've heard BK takes time.
even though i only used atomos on my mains, i still feel like it seemed like it was providing me a lower launch angle than i was used to, and in the 18 x 20 i can't really work with it being lower than it already is on poly strings

Yeah it didn’t work for my game/racquet setup either. Kind of reminded me of Kirschbaum Supersmash orange with the slick/smooth feeling at contact and low launch.

Still really enjoying the Black Knight though and going to test our Durafluxx 1.23 this morning.

Strung up my dunlop bio 200 lite with your status 17 @48 lbs. This is not my normal racket, I’m playtesting it even though it’s kinda old. I’m looking to try out a control racket as a change of pace from my leaded aeros. I jumped right into with a doubles practice set against a strong duo.
I wish I still had a pack of Triumph as I’d like to hybrid it in this racket as I needed just a tad more power, but I had great control both directionally and finesse such as lob and drops.
When I did hit good volleys they were low and skidding. My slice and topspin serves had some decent spin and again great control.
This setup has a low launch angle so i was shaky on baseline rallies so I’m going to work on that in the next practice. On the flip, where I believe this setup shined were dipping shots at the net man. I feel like I was able to set up my partner by forcing the opponent to pop it up.
Return of serves benefited from the control, I just need to get better at keeping the net man honest and going down the line.

I think this setup has potential to be a great doubles choice due to its control and dippy shots. I’m going to work on getting more comfortable from the baseline and get a volley lesson because I felt exposed. I’d like to try this as a hybrid with a multi to help with power. Next up is Atmos and I’m thinking of cutting it in half and hybriding with MLT

they have a promo right now, so i ordered black knight in 18 which is something i never expected to do in my life having been a stringbreaker my whole life

Anyone have any success with a Tru Pro string setup in a Graphene 360+ Radical MP? I was thinking of BK but wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts

Okay. Now I understand why Atomos plays like a board at higher tensions and requires a longer break-in period. One guy on the team started with Atomos @ 25kg. I advised him to stick with it because he disliked it for the first 2-3 hours, but I suggested a lower reference tension. We lowered it to 22/21 kg, and he loves it.
