Tsitsipas is better than people think

I think anyone suggesting Novak has this sewn up are ignorant of the fact to how good Tsits really is on clay. Their last match at Roland Garros was a 5 set match and he played some inspired tennis to get it to that stage. I think even he knows he has a good chance against Novak where if he were against Nadal I fear he would lose before even stepping on the court. Looking at his progress too he’s becoming a lot more consistent. SF at last years French losing to Djokovic , SF at this years Australian and now a F at the FO
I still think Novak takes it, but we could have another Wawrinka-esque match where everyone assumes Djokovic will win but can just as easily lose.

Tsitsipas is excellent on clay. He has beaten Rafa (almost twice) and he has some important clay titles under his belt.

The caveat is that Novak is really, really good at clay. Does that mean Tsitsipas can't win? No, of course. Anyone can win (or cook, for that matter). Will that happen tomorrow? That's why they play, no?

I think you’ll see a desperation and focus from Novak that matches or exceeds anything that’s come before. This is one of those GOAT or die moments for him. Unless he injures himself, Tsits will have to play ATG redline tennis throughout to beat him. Possible. Just very unlikely.

Stefanos is having a fantastic season and I think this is his break out - will finish top 3 if not top 2 imo.

I'm hoping for a competitive match because his tennis is great, but first GS final is always going to be tough. Can you imagine the aura Novak has after thrashing Rafa?

I don't think any reasonable person is saying this is a sewn up certainty. Have seen plenty of troll threads from others alleging that Novak fans are saying this, far more than actual Novak fanbase saying it!!

That said, while Tsits has a chance, Novak will be the favourite. Novak's play in his semi outshone anything Tsits showed in his, and besides this is the final. Novak has been here before, knows how to win and how to bring his best game to bear when it matters most, knows how to win even if he isn't sometimes at his best. Tsits just does not have that experience.

So while it's not a dead sure thing, Novak ought to win this. In 4 sets, is my guess.

I’m more concerned that Novak was all fired up just to try and win Rafa and now he’s a bit spent

I'm supporting Sisiboy. He has tools to trouble even in form Djokovic. So I expect him to keep match close at least. For winning he needs to get over his typical next gen choking problems. If he was mentally stronger - i would've given 40% chance tomorrow.

He was the better player for the entire first day, going up 6-4, 4-2 over Djokovic in Rome just one month ago. Served well, and was comprehensively outplaying Djokovic before the rain stoppage.

https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/ind...ak-djokovic-1-vs-stefenos-tsitsipas-5.697245/ go re-read the thread as I am doing, gleaning some interesting info. He has a clear plan to build off of to beat Djokovic which is huge.

Obviously the Djokovic from last night was far superior in every way to Rome, and the Djokovic the next morning destroyed Stefanos mentally. But it’s not like Stef will be without chances.

I think after that happened in 2015, surely he is going to be extra careful to ensure that he carries it through this time round.
Don’t think Tsits has that raw power and consistency Stan has got for big matches though . I never thought Novak would lose against him but he was hitting bombs for 2 hours and was unplayable

No, he doesn't, not by a long chalk. Which is why, as I said, while Tsits has some chance, it isn't much and odds are that Novak will take it in 4.

Either Tsitsifly turns into Wawrinka or he turns into AO 2021 Medvedev

Obviously, a slam final is going to have an opponent playing pretty well.

The two biggest issues that Tsitsipas has to deal with are consistency and short balls. I think Djokovic will exploit those. Other people have said his ROS is not that good, but it looks pretty good to me.

Also, a clearly big issue is how is Djokovic serving. He did not serve very well against Nadal until the last set by his own admission. Actually neither player did. That was one fo the reasons there were so many break points. I hope he starts off serving well and stays consistent with that.
