Uncle Toni says that Nadal is almost ready to return ....

Uncle Toni is once again proving the best source of Rafael Nadal news as the Spaniard confirmed his nephew is nearing a return.

It's probably music to the ears of many Nadal fans who have watched these past few weeks unfold with a lot of trepidation. Hip injuries are very uncomfortable as Nadal was able to see with his return taking a lot longer than the initial prognosis said. It's not yet clear when he will truly return but his uncle confirmed that a competitive return is near, when speaking to RTVE.

Rafael is recovering, I think he is not long before he can compete again, but in this tournament (the Madrid Open) he could not be here.

Nadal's preparation for the clay season has not been ideal as he was mostly forced to hit the ball in order to preserve his arm but movement will take a while. On a surface where it's so crucial Toni Nadal explained that he will be in a tough spot at Roland Garros due to not being able to play since January.

Obviously he is not going to arrive at Roland Garros with a good preparation, we do not have to fool ourselves. Since January 10 he hasn’t played matches and he hasn’t competed for a long time.’ Before Australia he didn’t play many matches either, but Nadal picks up speed right away and in a Grand Slam it depends a lot on the draw. If you are lucky enough to have an affordable draw in the first rounds, then anything can be.

He's not going to be the favorite heading into the event with very little preparation but if he gets a few matches in and manages to advance to the second week of the event, Nadal will certainly be a favorite according to Toni.

I have said many times that they have interviewed me. Nadal in the second week (of a Grand Slam) is a favourite.

That's exactly what it is. His injury suddenly heals in a matter of 4-5 months. That's not normal. When I last got injured it took me more than 100 days to run again.
Yeah how dare he "suddenly" recover after 5 months. Also I had been told that It was going to be a miracle had he returned at Monte Carlo to play clay season that heals his injuries. If not MC, then obviously Barcelona. Well if not Barcelona then Madrid for sure. Like a clockwork!
This sneaky Nadal and his suspicious plan to not play tennis for half a year. What a perfect preperation that is.

BTW. for all you minions who read clickbaity headlines and post overreactions on forums. Toni Nadal has often talked BS. For example after RG21 he said that Nadal will obviously play Wimbledon. Noone knows if Nadal will play RG this year. Not even him. Obviously it is his goal and he will do whatever he can to recover even if that means that he will arrive not playing Rome and without any match play whatsoever.

I thought I've seen fans posting practice pic /videos and taking them down probably warned for leaking by PR LOL since February.

Imagine Rome (if he plays) & esp RG build up story. Smth like" wounded warrior giving his all (who said he would die for it) is coming back for last attempt to defend his RG crown . Aww
It will be worse than last year ahead of Djokovic match
I just hope Amélie Mauresmo asTD promised to introduce the tool to protect players social media accounts from bullying will do right thing and actually protect Nadals opponents on the court from bullying (happened in last year QF) by hooligans in the stands, escorting most offensive ones

I love how Nadal can't play MC, Barca, Madrid and you are suddenly entitled to watch RG without him. Like, how dare he recover now?

On the serious note. Do you actually think that he inteniotnally decided to nosedive in the rankings, leave millions of dollars on the table by skipping 4 M1000's, arrive at RG without any match play and have huge risk to have a terrible draw based on his rankings? For what? What is the great plan here in your brain?

I suspect Toni's comment will annoy him. He went out of his way to not give any explicit our implicit deadline and stays cautious with his statements and here comes Toni saying he'll be ready to compete again soon. He shouldn't make this kind of statement publicly without asking Rafa if it's okay to do so.

Yeah kind of like Djoko and his father but on a much lesser scale.

You actually believe it.
And you bases this on a fact that he PUBLICLY posts videos of himself hitting forehands.

Also, I don't know what "wheat" has to do with any of this. I thought it was Djokovic's nemesis.

I certainly don't miss Clay King to that extent to see him win 15th french open so soon :p

But I think it is good to have him on tour for some more years and Novak too, I want them to dominate for some years forging rivalries with 2000s born. It would be very interesting to see. Plus I have no liking for next gen mugs to see them win titles, lets just say that I have developed a sadistic pleasure in seeing old men beat up young boys on court :D

Nope, it's not "music to the ears of many Rafa fans" that he has been “mostly forced to hit the ball in order to preserve his arm but movement will take a while.”

Don't try to turn it around on us nolefams. We stand together. Last year during ATP finals they announced Djokovic can return to Australia and you Rafans were shouting this man's luck has no limits. You wanted him gone from Melbourne again.

I don't try to turn it around on anybody.

I was responding to the posts that were above mine that had "how dare he recover now? we were promised that he is injured" attitude. Can't you see it?

Hi, Djoko fanatic! You are cheating readers! Your comrades have claimed that practice videos taken during the FO were taken after this year's AO.

I wonder how to stop Rafa bashers from bullying him.

He's his uncle, so people logically tend to take what he says for granted when it's about Rafa. Just look at people's reactions in this thread, many of them took this as a confirmation that Rafa almost fully recovered and will be back soon.

Hi, Djoko fanatic aka Rafa basher! Rafa said in his interview for Movistar+ at Bernabeu on Mar 2, 2023: “Every day I'm at RNA training in the gym, doing recovery, being 15-20min on court just so that the arm doesn't degenerate, but right now I'm pending on evolution & don't know if it'll be MC, BCN or MAD. But as soon as I'm OK, I want to play, thus I'll be on tour as soon as I can." (Source: Genny SS)

I wonder why Rafa bashers never stick to facts.

Toni says cautiously: "I think...". Posters here turn Toni's cautious response to the interviewer's question into his confirmation.

Toni said Rafa will play Roland Garros but not with ideal preparation. This means Toni is confirming that Rafa will not miss RG and he is saying that Rafa will be back soon as he is on the verge of returning. It is obvious he knows what we dont know,

Does he? He said after RG21 that Nadal for sure will be playing Wimbledon while Rafa himself was doubtful at that time.

It's typical of TTW posters to turn Toni's opinions into confirmation.
