UTR is Showing Worldwide Rankings

So I haven't logged into my UTR page in 3 months but it looks like they updated the Stats tab to show your Country and World rankings. They had something like that early on but then they removed it. Its your UTR ranking relative to pretty much everyone who is actively playing. I thought it was kinda fun seeing where you are in the overall pecking order.

I saw this too. Good for juniors to see where they fit in tennis. Some kids may think they should only play d1, but they could see their world tennis ranking and find out they would not even be top 2000 for college and realize they need to look at D2, D3, NAIA, etc.

It's a great system, especially because it reflects world wide ranking. It is also a lot more accurate than the other systems in place around the world at the moment that are open to huge difference in player quality depending on region.

Heck, even if you picked up a racket today you probably would be better at tennis than over 7.7 billion people! Its a win!

We are the 1% of the 1%. And on top of that, a half UTR point improvement is probably worth like a 5000 place bump.

From what I've seen of your videos posted you're about a 5.0 or 5.5, shouldn't that be an 11 or 12 UTR?

I consider myself a low to average 5.0 based on my league record. My UTR peaked at 10.51 last year but I had a few bad losses to UTR 9, which brought mine down.

11 or 12 utr is a 6.0

In my opinion, UTR 12 is 5.5. UTR 11 is probably high 5.0. Either way, I'm not that good haha.

Great: now I can see exactly how many people are better than I! Thanks a lot! :p

So I have had 12 league matches go into UTR since June 6th. I get the little gray ball that shows that they are in my ranking number. My number has not changed. Not at all.
In the past week I have seen a TON of other people's changing .... mostly downwards I might add. Mine is static. Has not changed even .01

So ...

Either I am the most consistent player ever. I play to the exact same level in every match.
OR
Somehow my ranking is "stuck"

And there are 10s of thousands of players better than I am in the US. But I already knew that.

I've had my UTR get up to 11, and I wouldn't call myself anything higher than a good 5.0.
I think part of the problem with wandering UTR ratings was that they kept changing their NTRP conversion algorithm. What used to be 11 is now a 9. They also had the issue of UTR downward drift for adult players to offset the upward movement of juniors - not sure if they fixed that yet.

My new ambition is to get to top 5000 in UK at the age of 60. Andy Murray is shown as #2 which is wrong, he’s #4

I’ve had a half dozen matches recently and my UTR hasn’t moved at all. Neither has my main doubles partner’s. What’s going on? I was thinking of paying for the upgraded service, but it seems pointless if they don’t update the stats regularly.

Usually takes 3-4 days after it's up on tennislink.
Premium isn't really worth it unless you are playing UTR tournaments.

I feel like there was a big shift in the ratings recently, or maybe they changed how they round? The vast majority of 4.5 players in my area were UTR 7. Now they're almost all 6. The 8's are now 7's.
My rating didn't change at all, but if I'm logged out, it's showing me as a 6 now instead of a 7.

They no longer round up. Previously if you were X.50, they would bump you up, but now they truncate the decimal point.

The dubs ratings shrunk after they started including mixed results too. Maybe they are still collecting results by froze the ratings.

Make sure that it is displaying the correct match type. I noticed mine wasn't changing but it was set to doubles instead of singles. If you go into edit your profile you can choose which one to display.

Yeah. Still stuck, Added another 6 doubles and 2 singles matches .... the doubles rating stays exactly the same. The singles rating has moved some with each match.

I am thinking they have a problem in not updating doubles ratings.

Oh well.

Lol, squeaky wheel gets the grease. After a month minimum of inactivity, my ranking was just updated after this thread got revived.

And mine is still perfectly stagnant. Have in 12 doubles matches since June 1 ... the rating has not moved at all, not even .01. I am that consistent.

Singles ... has moved. I don't want to talk about it.
