I have 3 2008's and 5 Bumblebees, one of which is a fish scale. I played today and the love affair keeps getting stoked. I have once again discovered some string which makes me feel really connected to the ball, Prince Warrior Hybrid Touch. All three of the glossy black beauties are strung up thusly at 55 pounds, weight and balance of those 3 to follow, specs are strung with pallet and one tournagrip (no grip at present) and a dampener:
1. 327g - 32.4cm
2. 326g - 32.3cm
3. 326g - 32.5cm
Pretty dadgum good QC if you ask me! (The one at 327g was the one I played with and the Touragrip absorbed some sweat...that may account for the 1g difference.)

That is my main racquet. I think it feels better and plays better than the C10 Pro version. I've owned both and sold the c10 Pro's to get more C10 Pro Tours.

Is a HL racquet. Volkl specs are unstrung and TW listings are always strung.
Thanks for the reply. but wouldn't an unstrung racquet have an even more headlight balance? I think strings would add more weight to the head, thus making it more head heavy. So your reasoning does not explain volkl's website listing as 1.3 HL.

The volkl specs are in inches, it is 1.3"inches hl. Tw list the specs in points (1p=1/8" if i remember right)

I have tried Prince XT 18 with Prince Premier 17 at 48 and like it very much. I'm currently using Gosen Sidewinder 17 and Babolat Synthetic Gut 17 at 52 and really like it. I have several more softer polys I'm going to try in the near future hybrided with synthetic gut.

So i have Gamma leather grips on my 2008s. With a 17g poly/16g syn gut hybrid set up, some lead at 3 and 9, and dampner, my two weigh 368-369g (close to 13 oz). Yes heavy, but being so headlight, even with lead no the hoop they swing nice and easy. i estimate swingweight to be around 330. I am an average 4.0 and the feel, power, comfort are all very good to me. Keep looking at new sticks that come out, and after demoing, still keep coming back to these babies. Have to admit the new Prince Textreme 95 and Babolat Pure Control Tour are tempting, at least on paper.

like Technifibre Pro Red Code and Weisscanon Silverstring 17g in the mains, paired with any cheap 16g syn gut in the crosses. I string at 52lb in the mains, and 56lb in the crosses. Like the power and feel. Comofort is good for me. going to try Cyclone 17g in the mains next.

Your story is familiar to me. Demo'd several racquets recently but keep going back to the C10 Pro. I am going to try the BB Melbourne since its been reintroduced. That could be the closest thing out there to a C10 with an 18x20 string pattern. The last 18x20 I used was the PT 280 and I do miss the accuracy you get with the tighter string bed.

Not similar to the Head grip shape in my experience. While the Head profile has an oblong shape with wider bevels parallel to the string bed (perhaps bevels #3 and #7), the Volkl grip profile is much more square to me. I hit a one-handed backhand and I have a much easier time setting my hand in the right spot for this stroke with my Volkls than with the Heads I've played.
I can't say that either is better or worse, but I've used a couple of Volkl models for a few years now, including the C10. Feel is a very subjective animal, but the Volkl shape has become home-sweet-home for me. When I was using a pair of LM Prestige mids though, that oblong shape made it especially easy for me to set my forehand grip in an extreme eastern position. If I hit a two-handed backhand, I'd probably love the Head grip shape for that, too.

I agree that the Volkl grip shape is more square than Head's, even though both are more rectangular than say Wilson's or Yonex's. I used both the MG Radical Pro and G Rad Pro (which killed my elbow), but never really liked the grip shapes that much. I am pretty happy with the C10's grip shape, esp with Leather grips.

Good choice, Rabbit! I tried Solinco Tour Bite 19 a few months and I liked it. Nice bite and a great feel for a poly string. Very comparable with MSV Focus Hex 19. Good luck!

Thanks! I hit with it tonight and it was more than I was expecting. I felt very connected to the ball and spin and control were off the charts. The other thing I loved was how un-polyish this string feels. It is something special. Looks like I'll be ordering a reel. Except that you've muddied the water with the Focus Hex 19.....tell me more!

Both strings play very similar to me. The MSV Focus Hex 19 is just more durable than the Solinco string.
During a period of about a half an year I broke the Solinco twice while I seldom use to break strings as I mostly play on artificial grass.
Besides the MSV is twice as cheap as the Solinco. At least here in Europe.
However TW USA doesn't seem to sell MSV Focus Hex 19 gauge version. Too bad for you.
Otherwise you could try MSV Focus Hex 19 into one of your other C10s and compare both strings with each other.

I use the C10 Pro Tours and I have to say I never have had shoulder/arm/elbow issues using these. I hope your good experience continues. The C10 pros are very nice sticks. The ones you just recently bought are the nicer varieties. I always liked the fish scale ones. Nice snag.

How do they compare to the latest (2010 and 2012) versions of the C10?

I will be leaving this club (and selling my almost new C10 pros if my son doesn't want them). I liked the weight, balance and plow through etc., but the grip shape just doesn't fit my one handed backhand grip. It doesn't line up well with the rectangular shape...causing me to shift back towards a continental grip.
I am going back to Prince (a much more comfortable grip shape I grew up with).

Wait,... don't switch too soon because you always can change the grip pallets. Völkl has pallets into different grip shapes available. See this link: http://gssalliance.com/boards/topic/volkl-pallet-system/

The TW Europe site has sizes listed, but they all appear to be replacements of the standard Volkl shape. I didn't see anything listing one that would allow me to alter the shape to a more square/rounded shape.

Google volkl replacement grip pallets and you'll get links to tennis shops from UK that sell different grip shapes.
You might ask TW if they can order the S-pallets from Völkl as well.

Speaking of the pallets, is it possible to go down a grip size? I have a couple of 4 1/2 C10s I'd love to turn into 3/8.

There is the C10 Pro Tour that hasn't been produced for quite some time. A 93 with a slightly thinner beam and lower flex than the C10 Pro. Very hard to find.
Isn't the PB10 Mid a direct successor of that?
Yes, it's as close as you will get now. My C10 Pro Tour is an 18x20 with a full cap-type grommet. It's also heavier than the current PB10 although I don't know what the spec. is.
