MILAN (AP)—Francesca Schiavone defeated both Venus and Serena Williams in singles on Saturday before they rallied to win the doubles in an exhibition in Milan.

Schiavone defeated Venus 7-5, 7-3, then countered a strong comeback from Serena to defeat the younger sibling 7-3, 8-10, 8-6.

Flavia Pennetta also beat Venus, whose strap broke on her dress before a sellout crowd of 11,000. Venus dashed off the court and returned in her third outfit of the event. She also brought popcorn to share with Pennetta, who won 7-6, 7-2.

Serena defeated Pennetta 6-8, 7-3, 7-3 before the Williams sisters won the doubles 3-7, 8-6, 8-6.

The Italian pair delighted the crowd in the warmup by dancing to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”

Venus has played just once since pulling out of the U.S. Open three months ago because of an immune system disease. Venus defeated Serena in an exhibition match in Colombia last week.

The strap was just an excuse to get popcorn. And actually, if you saw the match, Serena finished off the popcorn.

Venus couldn't bear to see Serena's hunger pangs. That's what sisters are for.

I dont agree with that. it depends very much on what malfunction we speak of. for instances, if we talk about a malfunction of a strap of a dress, i'm cool with that. but when the malfunction happens on a fresh poster of TW where he shifts his personalty from a rough speaking fruity indian rafa lover to a fluent speaking homophobic indian rafa lover, it all sounds to much like a hoax rather than a malfunction!

If i am not mistaken, Venus designs her own clothes. Doesn't speak too well of her as a designer if her clothes keep falling off.

I have no idea about these things really.
If a dress looks like a torn rag, or something absolutely ***tty then I figure it must be what they call "designer clothes" or haute couture or whatever fancy name they give unsightly clothes.

Senti. "Designer clothes" and "Extravagant Rags" are two different things. even if sometimes they are made by the same brand.

plus, not all designer clothes brands are extravagant. for reference, check APC, a minimalistic french designer brand who's trade mark is minimalism and function made with high end fabrics!

At the risk of sounding stupid, how does a set score go to 7-3? I assume this is some alternate scoring method?

As funny as the waldrobe malfunction is what makes me laugh is venus and serena claim there are to many tournaments in the calender but they are more than happy to play exibitions for big money when the season is over.

Same with the men. Nadal, Murray, Federer and Djoker were thinking of striking yet they will all be in dubai around new years eve playing a 1 million exo ....

well at least venus is making affordable clothes for ppl who play tennis. to bring up high fashion(which is a relative term) is irrelevant in comparison to venus. those are over priced clothes(high fashion) dictated on to the public that's cool and hip. i respect ppl more who do their own thing.
