Wearing glasses with perfect vision?

Is this socially acceptable? I want to buy the new Bose sunglasses and put clear lens in them to get more usability out of them. They are insanely cool, as if I have my own personal soundtrack for my brain.

But I have perfect vision, so is this weird? Does anybody use glasses just for style here? I know some wear watches but never use it to tell time. Same thing?

I find wearing glasses less comfortable than not wearing them. So why use them if you don’t need them.
Maybe you can look better wearing them.
I don’t think that it is an issue related to socially acceptableness.

I have always found that people who wear clear glasses do so because they think it makes them look more intelligent than they perhaps actually are. It’s a combo of insecurity and inferiority complex.

As a kid I had a lazy eye and for a year had to wear a patch to strengthen the eye - which was useless - then got an eye operation and never needed glasses again except for reading until around age 60. But during the lazy eye thing I had to wear glasses. No one who has ever HAD to wear glasses wants to wear them again for any reason.

I've worn glasses while riding a bike to protect my eyes and keep them from drying out, and when I lived in Colorado there were plenty of times I wore sunglasses when it wasn't sunny due to windy conditions with grit in the air. But otherwise, no.

I hated wearing correction glasses even when I needed them (and I needed them). The solution was a laser surgery. Why would anyone want to wear a foreign object on his face when he doesn't need it is beyond me. I agree, it is contrived and looks like one is wearing a golden pendant with his initials over a tuxedo.

Sunglasses are a must in almost all outdoor sports. Shooting, MTB/road cycling, riding, hiking in sunny conditions, fishing etc.

Eyeglasses, yes, socially acceptable. This has been a trend I believe (though I stopped paying attention).

I once had a friend who tried to put on 3D glasses with the lenses cut out at an event. Now he got called out on it immediately and took them off lol.

What?!?! Why would you not? I once got a watch to both look cool and use as a timer for tests. I found myself using it all the time (no pun intended).

And now with the smart watches it can be so much more than just the time telling that one can use. It looks like everyone has them now (even the Lady at the register in the grocery store wears an iWatch).

My watch has a digital wallet, music player, maps of North America, navigation, counts steps, flights of stairs, tracks my heartrate, body temperature and location. Yes, sometimes I use it to tell the time.

IMO, the two most useful things that a smartwatch (not a dedicated sports watch) can do is cashless payments and mail alerts.

It has mail, text, phone and other alerts too. Watches are incredible these days. You can hook this thing up to a Garmin InReach to receive text messages anywhere in the world too. InReach uses the Iridium satellite messaging service to provide communications anywhere in the world.

I'm in way too many meetings and work environments that won't allow smart watches to have one.

It's a Garmin Fenix 5+ so technically it's a fitness watch. It just also does a bunch of smartwatch stuff too.

It doesn't look like a smartwatch either. Nice round display, Titanium Bezel and Titanium Watchband and buttons. It does not have a touchscreen either.

Well, that thing looks like it would fit under a shirt cuff even worse than an iWatch, so I can see how that would be a problem. Bulky and/or ostentatious watches are not the best idea for a conservative business environment. Smartwatches also have the annoying habit of emitting light when they signal something, so imagine sitting in a dark room reviewing something and that thing goes off like that.

You can easily shut off some or all of the alerts.

These things are built like phones these days. The latest model comes with 32 GB of storage, more than some phones out there.

I went to the ER via ambulance summer 2018 for a heart condition. I would have died but they had a drug to reset my heartrate (though they had never used it before). I took my pulse manually ten times a day to make sure that I didn't get into trouble. Eventually I got a watch and it has alarms set if my heartrate goes up too high. I also monitor my heartrate while working out to make sure that I don't get into trouble.

These devices literally save lives by telling their owners to go to the ER when unsafe conditions are detected.

A bit of both. Big fan of JLC, Vacheron, Breitling, Rolex, AP, IWC, and have recently bought my first ever Cartier. Can’t stand the likes of Omega, Hublot, Mille etc.

I feel a new poll coming on...

LeBron and some of his teammates used to wear clear glasses or no frame glasses, I don't remember which to their after game press conferences. Whether or not it was for fashion or faux intelligence, you would need to ask them.

Is intelligence and sophistication the same thing? I would argue that wearing glasses with non-prescription lenses is more about looking sophisticated rather than intelligent.

Have you had that lasik surgery ? I read somewhere that it gives you only one kind of vision. Either near or far, so its not like your eye once was. Is that true ?
