Jo could have used a protected ranking entry into MD but must be saving the ones he has left for the clay and grass seasons. He had knee surgery last year and saw his ranking plummet but used the PR to enter and win ATP250 Montpellier in February and made QFs at Rotterdam.

Rublev had a back injury in 2018 that caused a layoff for recovery and loss of a lot of points. Currently ranked #95, he needs to qualify for any non-slam above 250.

Tsonga had a long term injury and did not do well enough in his WC tournaments afterwards to keep a ranking under 55 to get into the MD ATP 500, 1000, GS.
