I actually think Med might be in some danger this time btw. He is looking noticeably bothered and his movement has definitely declined from the first two sets. He seems to be struggling to breathe and his game is so running/fitness intensive that this is an issue. Last thing he needs is for this to somehow go 5. He must get off court ASAP. It could be problems if he’s forced to play for another hour or two.

I don’t remember the US Open being like this in the early - mid 00s. Maybe 2011 is the first year I remember conditions being an issue but even then it was nothing like this. Since 2018 it’s been crazy

The problem is handling extreme heat and humidity has nothing really to do with your physical fitness, you could be fittest athlete in world under regular conditions but not under these extreme conditions.

Think it is down to combination of genetics and your background of where you were brought up or lived a lot of your adult life. Some people also just have a more natural tolerance to it.

It’s kind of the worst of both worlds. I feel like this could be a major subplot of the SF and F, given that both will be played in the afternoon.

It’s actually a bit of neutraliser and gives the underdogs more of a shot.

However, it is a bit less hot Friday I think and even a bit less hot on Sunday according to forecast. I think humidity drops a bit too but still quite high.
